Not the most beautiful melody, but who doesn't know and respond to...

The Bond tune

Steel guitars...
The Monty Norman/John Barry James Bond theme could
easily pass as one of the world's most recognizable tune.
Though not as catchy as the James Bond theme the 007
theme of John Barry is also a memorable melody.

For some reason, probably this one, there's so much feeling in the lyrics and music. As sung by Elton John. Moon River !

Not bad, but nothing beats Audrey Hepburn's version. Wonderful song sung by the most elegant beautiful woman of all time.

Dvorak's Humoresque is one of those works that people
recognize instantly but unable to identify. In fact there are so
many different but equally effective arrangements of it that
to this day I could not tell which is my preference. The title of
this work would suggest it to be a piece of joyful music. It actually
gives me goose bumps and drives me to tears.

It's a beautiful melody alright, but it doesn't get serious consideration because of the many silly rhymes set to the tune. For example:
Passengers will please refrain
From passing water while the train
Is standing in the station (I love you).
Hobos travelling underneath
Might catch it is the nose and teeth,
And they might bite off more than they can chew.

The 2nd movement of Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony is sometimes
referred to as 'Pilgrim's March'. I have no idea of the origin of this nickname.

Highly underrated, most of Henri Mancini.
Mancini is mostly known for the catchy tunes he wrote
and his arrangements of other film themes but overlooked
for his more symphonic film scores such as "Lifeforce". IMO
Mancini is more under-appreciated than underrated.
