didn't think Kadri played at an NHL level, but he deserved the 'mid season tryout' to reward his recent tear in the O... gotta keep him inspired- it seems to be the way to get the best out of him.

Kadri did not look out of place on the ice against one of the best, if not thee best, faceoff teams in the NHL. He realized he has more to learn.
Think Kadri needs to bulk up if he is to endure the grind of a full NHL season. He is currently at 175 lbs and could probably easily get to 190 as he is only 19. Good small players are extremely rare for a reason.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
There probably won't be anymore trades until after the Olympics (besides Burke is still grieving his sons death), since the trade freeze starts at 3pm Friday. The guy at the top of the list is Poni.

I think the best thing Phaneuf will bring too the Leafs may not show up on the Stats sheet .. I think he will do wonders for Schenn's growth ... Phaneuf's
game is something Schenn can aspire to be and has a role model on his team
Good point. Maybe, J.S. Giguere is serving the same role for our young goalie.

The Leafs can ill afford to lose another forward, especially one that has 19 goals.
They can trade Poni as a rental and resign him next year. The only problem with him is being too soft. He hasn't used his size to its best advantage and that might be the only reason Burke doesn't want to keep him.

Poni is a spare part on any team in the league.
His presence on the leaf roster next year is not going to be the difference between success or failure

Never a truer statement uttered. The difference between success and failure next year would be more like three top defenceman, a new first line, a new second line, new coaches, a GM who just dosen't want to get his name in the paper (sorry for the shot and my condolences on his son) and a new ownership group that cares about winning not return on investment. So your right, "Poni" wouldn't quite do it.

By the way SENS RULE!!!! - beat the Caps tonight, they've won 13 of their last fourteen.

Another stellar effort last night!
With goaltending and defense like that, the playoffs are a lock this year.

Surprised the Leafs lost by 4 goals (against the Blues). Usually they lose by only one goal. The Leafs recently lost by only one goal to two teams (Devils, Sharks) that are better than the Blues.

0.29 Goals-per-Game over the past 3 seasons and so far into this one.

I wouldn't maind betting a couple of lapdances that Khadri doesn't match that pace next year.
A smallish 19yr old who will be in his first season vs a 29 yr old veteran. Wow you are really going out on a limb.

With the rise of the Canes the Leafs and Oilers are beginning to take a strangehold on the bottom two spots in the league.

Six points away from the third worse team, and a huge nine point gap from the fourth worst record.

No I don't think it's going out on a limb. I was merely pointing out the folly of that highly optimistic claim for the very reason you stated.

Ponikarovsky catches too much heat. Offense may be up compared to a few years ago, but the fact is 20-goal scorers still don't grow on trees in this league - and in the Leaf's organization, they hardly grow AT ALL - so as with Hagman, one should stop and think before calling for the departure of players who - though ordinary, are among the best they've got ... nd unless a few guys agree to significant contract restructuring, there isn't going to be the money available to bring in anything better (and it sure ain't coming from within the system any time soon...)
