Love your positive attitude. I think you'll be pooning sooner than ya think! Praying for a full recovery for you!The good news tonight is that my nurse Irena is a total smoke show. If only I was 40 years younger, a few million richer, and much better looking. I probably still wouldn’t have a chance.
I wrote my previous response before reading this. I too have had really dark moments from a traumatic injury and I hope for better days ahead for you. You have a whole community thinking of you and rooting for you too! Stay strong!I’m still in the hospital. I have a tracheotomy hole that I suction my saliva/phlegm from, and a feeding tube into my stomach that is used to feed me and administer medications. Hard to sleep, constant dry mouth, when I’m.not coughing up stuff out of the cannula in my trachea hole. Don’t know if this will ever improve, so mulling over assisted suicide. My wonderful sister has flown from west coast to help me, it I don’t want to burden her, she is older than me. Many dark thoughts as I lie awake in bed and write this. Remember to check out any weird things in your mouth or wherever on your body. Believe me, you don’t want to end up like this.
Me too on 'dark times.' I had brain surgery to remove a grade 2 meningioma from my front left head in Jan 2019. The post-surgical care was good, but the pain and headaches were just ungodly - I had 74 staples to give you a sense of the size of the wound. I was sent to a ketamine clinic and gave that a try, but the hallucinations I had made me immediately stop that. My radiation oncologist said "I'm not supposed to recommend this, but many patients use cannibas and it seems to work wonders." I tried it that night and haven't had a day without THC since. Im very thankful I have a full head of hair at 54, so I never have to look at that scar from my surgery.I wrote my previous response before reading this. All the best in your recovery and may it be as pain-free as humanly possible.Day 24 at Mt. Sinai. Received the pathology report from my surgery. 5 centimetres of tongue removed. 3 lymph nodes. One small tumour on my neck. Doc says it is likely cancer will come back at some point, and treatment by chemo or immunotherapy would not be effective, unless it is some small tumour. The goal is to build up my strength so that I can a live whatever time I have left in relative comfort. I can actually croak out a few understandable words, and may be able to go back to eating and drinking by mouth in 2-3 months. This is what I expected to hear, so I’m not down about it. Maybe I’ll outlast Mango Mussolini after all.
Man… that’s a lot to process.. wish you all the best!My cancer has spread to most of my tongue, and early tomorrow morning I will have major surgery ( the OR is booked for 10 hours). Removal of more cancerous tissue from my tongue, and a graft of a piece of my thigh to the tongue. Plus more lymph nodes removed from my neck. Plus a tracheotomy for breathing and a feeding tube. The feeding tube will be in place for at least 3 months while the tongue graft heals. Maybe I’ll be able to do some limited eating after that, but it’s not guaranteed. All this for a 25 percent chance to extend my time above the grass. I do have to acknowledge how great our health system is, investing all this effort in keeping me alive. Wish me luck.
Cancer is not contagious, but aside from that, best of luck dude and keep fightingI had a white sore on my tongue which I dismissed as a canker sore for too long. If you ever see such a thing on your tongue or anywhere else in your mouth, get it checked immediately. As to how I got it, who knows. I am aware of the dangers of hpv for those that engage in oral sex, but my pussy eating was minimal, since I didn’t really enjoy it. I did love DFK with all of the providers that I was with, but I don’t know that has anything to do with it.
Live for that one more steak.Day 24 at Mt. Sinai. Received the pathology report from my surgery. 5 centimetres of tongue removed. 3 lymph nodes. One small tumour on my neck.
