The original Great One, Jackie Gleason, would be my first choice. Ralph Kramden is one of television's most memorable characters, and the honeymooners is the greatest sitcom of all time, so much television comedy can be traced back to that show. There was a lot of pathos in Gleason's work, born of his troubled childhood. If you haven't seen it,check out a movie called "Soldier In The Rain" and you will see the full range of his talent.

John Goodman would be my number 2. He has played some very distinctive characters, particularly in the Coen brothers movies he has been in. Check out an underrated movie called "Matinée" that he was in, it's one of my favorite performances of his.

I agree with those who said that John Candy deserves to be higher up on the list. I think he has a lot in common with Gleason.

Kevin James should be on the list as well for both his stand up and his work as Doug Heffernan on "The King Of Queens".

My number one animated fat guy would be Homer Jay Simpson. D'oh pretty much says it all.

Clear winner, should be a bloated up Bubba telling the senate with a straight face that he did not have sex with that woman. Delivery of straight lines like that take years of training.:D

For a classic funny man - Jackie Gleason has to be the king. He was analogous to Elvis in the music scene. I loved Chris Farley - he was funny as hell. He died too young :( I also give a vote for Sam Kinison - his yelling in combination with his humor gave me a belly ache from laughing so hard!

Gleason is by far the #1

This list sucks as it doesn't even include Lou Costello. He was thinner in his early years but did put on some poundage later on.

Other notables Drew Cary, Rodney Dangerfield, Louie Anderson, Alan Hale (Skipper Gillian's Island), Al Molinaro (Al Happy Days), Dom Deluise and Fred Flintstone, was prototype for cartoon funny fat guy.

Caroll O'Connor got to be somewhere on that list.

Seems strange the Gleason wouldn't be on the list.
