WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - Lawyers plan to hold a news conference at Republican headquarters later on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said in a tweet as he continued his long-shot legal campaign challenging Democrat Joe Biden's victory in the Nov. 3 presidential election.
Trump did not say who would lead the news conference to be held at the Republican National Committee at noon (1700 GMT), but said they would lay out "a very clear and viable path to victory," which most legal experts have said is unlikely.

Trump campaign is asking the court to hand over the ballots, let the Trump campaign count them, and then if the Trump campaign says they are actually the winners (based on Trump Math), the court should agree.
Not unlike any other production of documents request in litigation where a party has a chance to review the original documents that are material to the suit.

Ah the ubiquitous "most legal experts" weigh in again! If only the outcomes of litigation were so easy to predict. Nothing would ever have to go to court!

They should box them all up and let Rudy take them to Four Seasons landscaping so the Trump campaign workers can count them without being bothered by these pesky election officials...

That appears to be what they are asking, yes. Not access to the ballots but possession of the ballots. (They may not be and it is just written badly, of course.)

If you want to know what the Trump team is basing their claims on, watch this press conference:

Spoiler alert, contrary to the spin of the media, they are relying on evidence, and their theories are legally cogent.

The courts need to determine the claims on their merits.

I'll watch later (got a work deadline). But the track record shows that one's priors should be that none of what you just said is accurate.

Fox cut off the conference in favour of their own talking heads. Here's a more complete stream of the press conference:

Repeating this in this thread, since it is more relevant here.

Listening to this press conference.

So far as I can tell, the theory is that Biden got help from George Soros, the Clinton Foundation, Antifa and the Venezuelan government to rig the election by making cities vote for the Democratic candidate.
But they also let Republicans win Senate, Congressional and local races for... reasons.

It is a national conspiracy that they will probably file suits about in a couple of states only. Maybe. Despite it being nationally coordinated across many states they won't bring a case about that.
But they are working to "overturn the election" in a number of states. (Yes, he used the words "overturn the election" himself.)

There is a lot of evidence and only some of it is the stuff that has already been thrown out of court in other cases.
They aren't going to show this other evidence, though.
That's ok because Rudy can smell crime.

To quote Voltaire,
"Certainement qui est en droit de vous rendre absurde est en droit de vous rendre injuste."
(Usually translated as "Certainly anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices.")

From Fox's Kristin Fisher:

“Well, that was certainly a colorful news conference from Rudy Giuliani, but it was light on facts. So much of what he said was simply not true or has already been thrown out in court,” Fisher said while beginning her reporting on the presser.

I though the theme of the press conference was Rudy shocked at getting $20,000/day for that crap.
