Quick story. Went to Ireland years ago stopped in a Irish pub on the west coast on a Saturday very busy, waiting for the entertainment to hear some good irish music, musician came out and played Johnny Cash songs all night. Also, went to the bar ordered some beer from two girls serving, I said, you are the first lovely Irish girls I have seen, they looked at me and laughed, we are not Irish, we are from Moldova. LOL.

Bob Wills goes back to the early 1900s with a band called The Texas Play.boys. They were one of the first bands to appear regularly at the GRAND OLE Opry.

Also, CCR, some great songs, Proud Mary and many others.
The Jimmie Rodgers i knew was on the Ed Sullivan show in the mid 50s, singing his big hit Honeycomb and Kisses Sweeter Than Wine. Don't know of he was related to the original JR.

more blue eyed Soul than Country no?....recorded in Muscles Shoals where countless soul hits were produced..............bottom line....a great song...
Dusty Springfield could hold her own vocally with Martha Reeves, and apparently after a US tour together they became good friends

Also from Sweetheart. Beautiful song and harmonies with Gram, in his Nudie suit, on lead vocals.

Gram was notoriously unreliable, partly due to the alcohol, but it was also just his nature. The Byrds doing a big tour and were just about to leave England for S. Africa. A couple dies prior to flying, Gram announced that he wouldn't be going leaving the band in the lurch.

Best known for his one big hit, Wildfire, these earlier songs of Michael Murphy were much better compositions.

Great pedal steel on this song.
