Some great choices.

I'm too lazy to search and post right now, but hopefully I'll get around to it.
Some of my favourites are by some of the well known stars.
Dolly
Alan Jackson
Martina McBride
Johnny Cash
Kenny Rogers
Lynn Anderson
And I do like some of the newer artists and some of their work.
Lainey Wilson
Kelsey Ballerini
Carrie Underwood
Garth Brooks
Maren Morris
Miranda Lambert

The band that made it OK for hippies to listen to country music. The Flying Burrito Brothers.

They influenced and/or were part of many bands, especially Gram Parsons.

He joined the Byrds and they recorded Sweetheart of the Rodeo. He hung out with the Stones and they recorded Wild Horses on Sticky Fingers. Bernie Leadon was an original member of the Eagles. Gram helped launch Emmy Lou Harris' career and they won a Grammy for Love Hurts (written by Dave Mason of Traffic).

My fave Burritos song. Hot Burrito #1 with Gram's achy breaky voice and Sneaky Pete Kleinow on pedal steel.

Gram Parsons' story was a tragic one.

He was born into one the wealthiest families in Florida by way of owning the most orange groves in the state. They were a bunch of alcoholics. Father committed suicide. Mother remarried to a guy named Parsons. She was alcoholic who was encouraged by Parsons so he could inherit. Sure enough Gram took up where his parents left off. He was notoriously unreliable and missed tonnes of gigs. Drugs and alcohol brought him to his demise at the same age as Hendrix, Joplin, Hank Sr., Morrison.

Hanging around with Keith Richards probably didn't help either of them.

Gram was lauded as a country rock pioneer, but I always thought his song writing was weak. He was followed by more talented acts like Jackson Brown and the Eagles who were far more accomplished.

Don't get me started on 70's country rock crossover!....

The Dead's American Beauty is the most underrated country rock album ever recorded. I'll fight you!

Don't kick me out of the thread, but I thought I'd make it a little more piquante with some Norteno.
