Caitlin Clark is 8th in scoring (19.5) and first in assists (8.4) by a wide margin. So according to 3 ESPN beat writers, she is the 4th best player in the WNBA right now behind only A'Ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
I imagine as her team improves her scoring will go up. Opponents can key on Caitlin. Of course, her assists have benefited.

It will be exciting to watch her over the next couple years.

Reasons why her endorsements to date include Nike, Gatorade, Wilson Sporting Goods, State Farm, Bose, Versace, Buick:

Clean cut, well spoken, combination of Magic Johnson and Steph Curry, fills arenas everywhere she plays, record TV ratings for games featuring her.

She said it brings tears to her eyes when she sees young girls walking with their dads to stadiums when she is driving to the games: "That was me a few years ago," she said

The Indiana Fever were 1-8 when CC joined the club, now they are 20-19. She's elevated the play of the team, one player who has benefited most from her arrival is shooting guard Lexie Hull.

Also known as Sexy Lexie...mama come si pizzica!
They started 1-8 with CC in the lineup. They turned it around when her teammates got in tune with her style of play

Angel Reese is cute, love the moon face. Unfortunately she's been put on the spot the same way Viktoria Azarenka was in versus Serena Williams. Dace Portnoy couldn't have described her situation any better.

20,711. The largest ever attendance at a WNBA game on Thursday in D.C. to witness the Mystics versus Fever. What Caitlin Clark is doing for the WNBA is simply incredible.

Gino Auriemma deserves a vacation in Galveston. Maybe I can reincarnate as CC's masseuse.

I don't see the WNBA being profitable in the long term. The Conneticut Sun figured out how to stop Caitlin Clark.

WNBA has a new franchise coming next year in San Francisco area. And in Toronto and Portland in 2026.
They just signed a massive new media contract.
They have Caitlin Clark now. Paige Bueckers next year. Azzi Fudd in 2026. And Juju Watkins in 2027. These players are going to light up the league.

Yes, CC had a bad first playoff game. 2-13 from 3 and just 11 points. She needs to understand defensive intensity increases exponentially in the playoffs and cant be taking and missing those long range 3s. Doesnt work

...
I would be surprised if the WNBA draws well in Toronto.

Toronto considers itself to be a World Class city when it comes to teams sports. Hockey, Baseball and Basketball draw well. The CFL is considered a minor league by most people; the Argonauts haven't had a crowd above 20,000 for a home game this year. If anyone remembers the Toronto Phantoms team in Arena Football, (2001-02), they'd know that they literally couldn't give tickets away.

I saw one Phantoms game. I was given free tickets for attending a blood donor clinic. The tickets were near midfield, in the first few rows of the upper bowl. Half way through the first quarter, an usher came to our section, and asked everyone to move down into empty seats in the lower bowl. The team wanted to present an illusion to the small television audience that there were a lot more spectators than were actually present, (perhaps 1,500, and most of them probably had free tickets, like me).

The average price for WNBA tickets is in the $150 - $175 USD range, and I can't see a lot of Torontonians paying $200 Canadian dollars on a regular basis to see women play basketball. The Raptors 905 team in the NBA G League has attendance under 4,000 on average for home games. WNBA would be lucky to draw half of that.

Never mind Toronto, the WNBA won't survive in general.

Caitlin Clarke eye is probably closed. She took a fingernail to the eye, the foul wasn't even called. There's no chance that the league can survive if it's star player is viciously taken out.

Stephen A erupts!

Caitlin Clark and the Fever went up against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday in a playoff matchup. They lost. The game was on ABC and went up against a slate of NFL games on other media outlets. And 1.84 million tuned in. The other 3 WNBA playoff matches featuring reigning MVP A'Ja Wilson, previous MVP Breanna Stewart, etc. had a combined viewership of 1.27 million on ESPN. Caitlin Clark continues to prove she is the goose that lays the golden egg.

NBC, CBS and FOX have a monopoly on Sunday afternoon NFL games. ABC counter-programs with things like golf, NASCAR, or WNBA.

Those are GREAT viewing numbers for WNBA, but the total audience for those four games is less than 40% of the viewers who watched the NFL Draft.

I'm not a hater of women's basketball. My high school was a basketball powerhouse, especially our girls' teams - one year when I was there, out senior team went 31-0, and another year they were 51-3, including tournaments.

Given the viewing choice of sports options at the same time, I'll watch basketball over hockey, and over a football or baseball game which doesn't involve a team I care about. I'd like to see the WNBA prosper, but I am a realist. I think a WNBA franchise in Toronto would fade quickly, if only because there are too many other entertainment options, and ticket prices would be too high for the average fan want to attend when Caitlin Clark isn't playing.

If you asked the average person on the street to name three WNBA players, many might say Caitlin Clark and Brittney Griner, and if they could even name a third, it would probably be someone already retired. I can't name three currently active female hockey players.

The Indiana Fever lost once again and are out of the playoffs. And once again Caitlin Clark was wildly off the mark with her 3 pointers (3-12). Overall, the Fever missed 22 of their 3 pointers, while the Sun missed just 14. The Fever lost by 6, so the disparity in missed 3 pointers was the key factor in the loss. The infatuation with the 3 point shot is destroying both men and women basketball. Shame.

The season is over for the Fever. But the phenomenal achievement of Caitlin Clark is one for the record books. Bravo 👏
