ok this is my question....

What is the deal with Frank Catalanotto ???? he has been placed in a bereavement list ??????
I haven't heard anything about it other than he has been allowed to leave the club in order to attend some serious family business. If he IS done for, it seems like a rather goofy way to dispose of him.

salsamarc said:
IMO he is one of the better players Toronto has....not a power hitter but certainly a clutch hitter and a good defensive outfielder?
Is he though? Mike Wilner has called Frank an "average to below average" defensive outfielder. And on more than a few occasions, he was replaced in left by Johnson in the late innings of close games for defensive purposes.

Sweeping the BoSox is damn sweet. Now if only the O's would start losing.

all time ?????
tough one if we're talking about all time.

But I'm guessing the answer might have to be Devon White and Robbie Alomar.

On the current team though, shack is bang on.

Oops. Didn't see the all-time.

Devo (hands down) and Robbie sound pretty good though. Tony Fernandez was very steady although not as flashy as Robbie. If Orlando can play at the same level for a few more years he'll rank up there as well.

best defensive o-f

Devo was amazing,,,,Shawn Green won 2 gold gloves with the Jays,,,,,but definitely Devon White was that best defensive OF......best defensive infielder....i'd have to say the Alomar-Manny Lee combo's were great but Alomar-Fernandez were even better....ALOMAR by far, best defensive infielder, O-dogg not that far behind as some people think!

There's probably a thread on this but ...

... all-time Jays team would be ...

C - Darrin Fletcher (.291 AVG, 18 HRs, 80 RBIs - 1999)
1B - Carlos Delgado (.344 AVG, 41 HRs, 137 RBIs, 57 2Bs, 123 BBs - 2000)
2B - Roberto Alomar (.326 AVG, 17 HRs, 93 RBIs, 55 SBs, 80 BBs, GoldGlove, 1993)
SS - Tony Fernandez (.322 AVG, 5 HRs, 67 RBIs, 32 SBs, GoldGlove - 1987)
3B - Kelly Gruber (.274 AVG, 31 HRs, 118 RBIs, 14 SBs, GoldGlove - 1990)
LF - George Bell (.308 AVG, 47 HRs, 134 RBIs, 111 Runs, MVP - 1987)
CF - Devon White (.273 AVG, 15 HRs, 52 RBIs, 116 Runs, 34 SBs, GoldGlove - 1993)
RF - Shawn Green (.309 AVG, 42 HRs, 123 RBIs, 134 Runs, 45 2Bs, GoldGlove - 1999)
DH - Joe Carter (.264 AVG, 34 HRs, 119 RBIs, 97 Runs - 1992)

SP - Roger Clemens (21-7 W-L, 2.05 ERA, 264 IP, 292 SO, 9 CG, CYYOUNG - 1993)
SP - Dave Stieb (16-8 W-L, 2.83 ERA, 267 IP, 198 SO, 11 CG - 1984)
SP - Roy Halladay (22-7 W-L, 3.25 ERA, 266 IP, 204 SO, 9 CG, CYYOUNG - 2003)
SP - Pat Hentgen (20-10 W-L, 3.22 ERA, 265 IP, 177 SO, 10 CG, CYYOUNG - 1996)
SP - Jimmy Key (17-8 W-L, 2.76 ERA, 261 IP, 161 SO, 8 CG - 1987)
RP - Tom Henke (0-6 W-L, 2.49 ERA, 34 SV, 94 IP, 128 SO - 1987)

RP - Mark Eichorn (14-6 W-L, 1.72 ERA, 10 SV, 157 IP, 166 SO - 1986)

RP - Jerry Garvin (4-7 W-L, 2.29 ERA, 8 SV, 82 IP, 52 SO - 1980)

I put Jerry Garvin in 'cause I couldn't think of a lefty from the bullpen.

You could argue for;
John Olerud (.363 AVG, 24 HRs, 107 RBIs, 54 2Bs, 109 Runs - 1993)
Willie Upshaw (.306 AVG, 27 HRs, 104 RBIs, 99 Runs, 7 3Bs - 1983)
Paul Molitor (.322 AVG, 22 HRs, 111 RBIs, 121 Runs - 1993)
Vernon Wells (.317 AVG, 33 HRs, 117 RBIs, 118 Runs, 49 2Bs - 2003)
Jesse Barfield (.289 AVG, 40 HRs, 108 RBIs, 107 Runs, GoldGlove - 1986)
Jack Morris (21-6 W-L, 4.03 ERA, 241 IP, 132 SO, 6 CG - 1992)
Doyle Alexander (17-6 W-L, 3.13 ERA, 262 IP, 139 SO, 11 CG - 1984)

Billy Koch (9-3 W-L, 2.63 ERA, 33 SV, 78 IP, 60 SO - 2000)
Juan Guzman (16-5 W-L, 2.64 ERA, 180 IP, 165 SO - 1992)
Dennis Lamp (11-0 W-L, 3.32 ERA, 2 SV, 105 IP, 68 SO - 1986)

Nice list but what about a Manager?

Please don't say Cito as he was vastly overated and couldn't land a head coaching job anywhere else afterwards.
