I think a part of some reviews is the idea of "bragging rights" or an attempt to impress the guys, so the more detail in terms of the encounter the better, especially when it comes to the variety of positions taken - a reference to sexual prowess and "added excitement".
The SOG description is important because it is a critical moment for the guy, a make or break moment if you will. It is also can be indicative of the openmindeness/acceptance level of the girl and sometimes a measure of how true a GFE experience the encounter was (i.e., was it CIM, SW? well then that is probably the ultimate acceptance and simulation of a great GFE).
But another possibility is that reviews could/would be very boring if they simply said, "I visited Gen, she was fantastic and smelled wonderful! Thanks guys." hence the need for some juicy details.

I may have rollled my eyes a few times reading mine or others' reviews. It is always somewhat strange to read a detailed review of an encounter from the other person's perpective. But it's also very informative about what you guys pay attention to and like, so it definitely helps in improving the experience for you.
The one thing that always boggles me is the obsession with describing every positions taken, in what order, for how long, etc. That and the way the SOG(s) happen(s). Why is this so important for you?
