Thank goodness they got the lead that they did. Pulling a kid 22 year-old with 11 strikeouts in 5.1 without giving up a hit… I don't agree with that. I understand the bullpen needing to get work. I get all that. But I really do think Schneider overthinks things in the playoffs. Sometimes he just touches things a little too much. After the last two playoff appearances, and some of the bonehead moves he made you would think he would be a little more careful now..... I understand it's hard to argue with a manager that finished first in the American League east, but I don't agree with that move. At least let the kid go until he gives up his first hit. This is a best three out of five series and you're almost up two games to none heading to New York with home-field advantage for a game five if possible. This is not the time to start farting around by giving people playing time. He is managing that game like this is High Park house league.

Imagine if that move lost the game?

I think Schneider will think about it twice in the next games.

Is it true that Vlad insulted Judge? If so, In old time baseball, Vlad can expect to get knocked down by a high hard one a la Bob Gibson.

I was thinking he pulled him to save his arm for the future games. Not to give the bullpen a workout.

But yeah, another inning likely wouldn't have hurt the arm of a 22 year old. He is hot stuff, and on fire for sure! Was so nice to see his shy smile break out when he finished pitching. He knew he did a good job. That's a lot of pressure for a 22 year old!
I think Schneider was concerned that 3 x through the Yanks' order, the better hitters would pick up on Trey's release point and start hitting him and the kid didn't have the experience or poise to cope with that. Hence the pull.

While stumbling his words in the post game press conference, Schneider came up with "I wanted him to get a standing ovation for the job he did" regarding why he pulled him. What the hell are you talking about dude this is the ALDS buddy.

Philip
Schneider gave him one extra batter in the sixth for the applause instead of being pulled after 5

classy move

That's an awesome photo. I've been seeing a lot of Blue Jays in my neighborhood lately flying all around my house. Hopefully that's a sign. Perhaps I wasn't very perceptive to it before, but I don't recall seeing so many Blue Jays around my neighborhood in the past. I am seeing them everywhere. Literally all the branches of all the trees filled with Blue Jays lately.

The Jays are preparing for winter by caching various food sources in crevices (trees, rocks, roofs, etc) over a relatively wide area. They are omnivorous, so this could mean storing anything from seeds, to nuts (like acorns), to insects. And they have great memories, so they know where they stored their winter food supply. Hence, all the Jays' activity. That, and they really dislike the Yankees. A lovable bird species, for sure.

I agree plus the pitch count for someone so young, the insurmountable lead and him might him in relief in a game 5. I wouldn't question/second guess the the decision of the leading candidate for manager of the year.
I'm nervous about game 3.

Blue Jays are beautiful birds. I have a birdfeeder in front of my house, but our seed is just geared towards Cardinals and those little annoying scavenger birds lol. I will do an endorsement for Wild Bird Unlimited. A great company that produces seed and set up that actually generates results compared to others I've tried. I haven't even had luck with a five star review Amazon seed compared to Wild Bird Unlimited. Something about the seed from this Toronto outlet generates the best results.

Sounds like another reasonable factor.

I bet the Yankee hitters are re-watching every one of his pitches on video.

I'm not as confident as you. I have a feeling this is going to be a pitching duel and that it will come down to bullpens to decide the outcome. Let's just hope our bullpen fares a bit better than they did on Sunday. Go Jays!
