..oh sure, as soon as the Toronto Sun puts your analytics in question now it’s all about them needing to find something to write. I’m totally joking buddy. I actually like your analytics. It’s helpful....
Philip
Philip, I'm a Toronto native, but I lived in or near Montreal from age 8-23. This allows me to have interest in the Blue Jays because they play in the local market, but without vested interest in the team, because I'm more of a fan of the sport, rather than of the home side.
As Michael Corleone was wont to say, 'It's nothing personal, strictly business'. This is why I think an extension for Vlad Guerrero is a bad idea, from a business perspective. If the Jays had most of the Baltimore Orioles' roster of young, cheap, controllable talent, I would be all in for locking up Vlad long term, because he could be the difference between having a World Championship team and having an ALCS loser. I see a multi year rebuild as a necessity, if they Jays want to legitimately contend for prizes that matter. Postponing the inevitable only extends the rebuilding stage.
There was a quote I posted in the Blue Jays 2024 thread where someone said that season's team goal was 'to win a post season game'. That sort of mentality guarantees perpetual mediocrity. In sports, it's much better to finish last than to finish 8th.
