Gotta give Hazel Mae credit, she got the gatorade bath and took it like a trooper. Could have scowled and pouted but took it in stride and even gave the towel to Pearce instead.

Just last season, Tulo hit 24 HR with 79 RBI & 3.3 W.A.R. & played very solid defence.
I'm not sure what more one would expect from their shortstop?

This has been a down year for Tulowitzki, no doubt, but that could be said for a lot of Blue Jays not named Smoak, Stroman, Tepera, Leone, or Osuna. Honourable mention to Steve Pearce.

Sorry for spoiling your beauty sleep tonight, oagre, wasn't my intent. :)
If it came at a lower price tag, everyone would be delighted. But Tulo was expected to be a franchise player - one of a collection that were going to create a baseball dynasty in polar bear land. And he never really lived up to either the bill or the billing.

quite a victory today....and I was there to the end

Sonofabitch!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched yesterday smugly telling myself that the Jays had it in the bag and had played a great game and then got gut punched in the 9th. I was so pissed at yet another lost series that I checked the score in the 7th today and said fuck it!

I cut/pasted his tweet, so he had mistyped. Thanks for the update/clarification
What an amazing feat though.
We will probably never see this in our lifetimes again by a MLB player, let alone a Blue Jay.

I got to witness both dingers live on TV, thats pretty cool!!

Here
I bet Liriano is delighted to go to the Astros.

Unless the baseball gods are feeling mischievous, it will be the Astros and Dodgers for the WS. :thumb:

He was exposed in the Rule 5 draft in 2015 but no team took him after having a disappointing minor league season.
He's had 2 good seasons since and still only 24. Plus power, plus arm, plus speed, draws some walks, but lacks defensive range and strikes out a little too much.

Not a bad return for a pending FA pitcher having a bad year. There must've been a few offers on the table.

The outfield is really crowded now so you have to wonder if one or more of the Jays' outfielders are on the move, or maybe Aoki gets flipped.

The Toronto Blue Jays trade reliever Joe Smith to Cleveland for 2 low level minor leaguers.

There may have been some compassion involved in moving Smith to Cleveland, his mother is suffering from Huntington's Disease, and lives in northeast Ohio.

Perhaps a leftfielder?

Following the Drew Hutchison trade tree:
The Blue Jays received Teoscar Hernandez, Harold Ramirez, Reese McGuire, 2016 W.C. game Francisco Liriano, http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/boxscore?id=65304 and Nori Aoki
The Pittsburgh Pirates received Drew Hutchison

That'll work.

Here's hoping that Pompey could take over CF from Pillar for next season. If Pompey is healthy he should work real hard during the off season for that job. Jays should have a brand new outfielders in 2018 if you asked me.

or the shitty turf he plays on.
Do you really think the turf is the reason that Tulowitski can't stay on the field (fake)? He played in the highest number of games in years last year in his first full year up north (131).

He only averaged 117 games in his first full 8 seasons in the all grass NL.

Whether fluke or physiology he gets hurt a lot. The Jays knew exactly what they were getting when they traded for him, including the triggering of his full no trade clause when he came here.

Atkins said post-trade today "if there were a need for an OF in Toronto right now, he could come up and play every day" (Slight paraphrase).
