Obv use which is appropriate (trying to load wrong one has severe consequences on your phone for obv reasons...)
Yes they do. Use the pay ones that allow you to make calls. Call them, “verify” wit them whatever the fk that means. And you’re golden.Unfortunately, agencies like WEL and TP don't accept text apps SMS.
Unless you have a really weird number they have no way of knowingUnfortunately, agencies like WEL and TP don't accept text apps SMS.
Actually as I have heard/learned - there is ways they can tell. For example if they are using a Text App themselves (i.e. the popular apps) then it shows the sender is from the same platform. That method is a bit obvious. What I learned that is interesting is there are websites, chrome extensions and apps that help in searching/confirming if a number is from a text app service.Unless you have a really weird number they have no way of knowing
Number portability and all

That app is pretty worthless as it makes 2 assumptionsActually as I have heard/learned - there is ways they can tell. Few years ago I would fully agree with you TeeJay - but the last year or two have shown things have changed.

Anyone can look up the current provider of your phone number.I remember I tried calling/texting from a TextNow account a long time ago, and the agencies could tell right away that I was using a texting app.
How are they able to figure it out?
Yup. Eliminates any liability associated with using your own personal phone. (As to concealing from your spouse, that is another issue entirely.)You know a prepaid phone would solve this issue.
TeeJay, doesn't the network record your phone's IMEI number regardless?there is always call ID spoofing should you really want to remain anon
I gave the link as just an example to share with all the readers here of this thread. That app is pretty worthless as it makes 2 assumptions
You are using thier specific app (textnow) and you have not ported your number
I see lots of people claiming they can tell but really they cant
Oh and there is always call ID spoofing should you really want to remain anon
Incredibly easy to do
I have danced around this statement and perhaps I just need to come out and say it - a VOIP app, like Fongo - works with agencies who want to call you/screen you first (and indie's), texting is perfect - never had an issue with anyone suggesting you are using an app, no second phone for a SO/Wife to find and if in a really tight pinch a quick uninstall makes it disappear completely - when you reinstall you sign in with your fake gmail account address and password, activating the phone number you had before once again.Yup. Eliminates any liability associated with using your own personal phone. (As to concealing from your spouse, that is another issue entirely.)
