I do about 100 per month to various orgs. Food bank, disease research for Family members who died of it. Animal shelter, youth shelter.

There is a fantastic organization in the Dominican Republic that I both do volunteer work for when I’m down there and donate when I’m not. It’s called Dogs and Cats the Dominican Republic.
They have a strong presence in Kingston, Ontario. But I don’t know if they’re still doing adoptions with the new agriculture Canada restrictions.
But I assure you, they are a very effective organization and very worthy of any dollar you can help with.
They are a registered charity both in Canada in the United States so you get a tax receipt

The focus of their work now is conducting rabies and anti-parasite clinics Around the island for local dog owners. Also, volunteers are out every day, walking the streets and beaches and providing anti-parasite medication and doing general health checks on animals they find. All of this is free to anyone. Local vets even do spay and neuter clinics for free when they’re conducted through DCR. All of this is funded by donations.
The dogs and cats are the best! They call them Coconut Hounds and Coconut Cats!
They are very well socialized amongst other dogs and people. Probably one of the most beautiful and wonderful personalities of any breed I’ve known.

I consider myself to be a very generous individual, both with my time and financially. I find it very rewarding to my soul. I commend you @yababy1 for being less selfish and helping others in need. I have some core charities that I support annually and have a rotation of 2-3 that I make single donations to. I'll make Operation Smile one of those.
No political donations are not a 100% write off. 75% up to $400, 50% from $401-$750 and 33.33% from $751-$1,275. That's federal. Ontario is the same rates but on higher levels of donation, to a max of approx. $3,500 annually.Yes you do but it's only 17% of the amount contributed up to $250 and then 29% for anything above that amount. Before 1988 all charitable donations were a 100% write off.
And as an aside to this, all political party donations are a 100% write off. Go figure.

I don't give to Operation Smile Canada, I do give to Doctors Without Borders. They help to facilitate to bring children from developing countries to Sick Kids to have the corrective surgery done.
