I spent this evening walking up and down the Danforth during the "Taste of the Danforth" festival. This has got to be one of Toronto's best street parties! There lots of great food (at decent prices), good music, and everyone is friendly and personable. It's the kind of event you can go to with a date, your mother, or your children...and everybody gets along.

At times, the crowds get quite close. Watch out when you're passing the flying acrobats because there is very little street left for walking and it gets really packed in. There are few places outside of Toronto where a street-party can be so highly attended, crowded, and yet still be safe and friendly. Another great job by the folks who organised the event!

Most important, the street featured many very attractive and minimally dressed women of all races, backgrounds, ages, shapes, and sizes. Even if you don't try, you can't help but get pushed up against all kinds of busty beauties. The best part is, they even apologise to you for bumping in!

A truly tasty assortment. I highly reccomend it...there's one more night to go!

I usually get down there but this year I won't be able to go. Sounds like I missed another good time!

I agree that this is one of Toronto's best street events. Perhaps we should all try to be more friendly to strangers we encounter during the rest of the year. That might help out this city more than a thousand concerts and street parties!

Word. That festival was hotter than a mofo. I especially liked those dancers and their elaborate costumes. My fave was the guy in his early 30's with the boyish grin on his face. Did you see the size of his legs? Shaweet.

It was nice to see all the other terbies at the terb booth. Next year hopefully we'll get a bigger booth, so we can give everyone there a real taste of the wild and crazy world of terb.

I've lived in this neighbourhood for 10 years now and the ToD is our annual main event. Love it to death. Lots of noise and getting to my bank on Saturday is a headache, but well worth the hassle.

Especially when it brings so many of you into my area.

What a blast. Great party.

Ditto on the crowded scene, was with few lovely ladies. Funny thing I was the only one with ass grab/touch on few occasions, by not bad looking ladies, I may add.;)

Taste of the Danforth

I was disappointed with the Taste of the Danforth a couple of years ago, there was no samples and the food for sale was at regular prices.

Agree. If the purpose of the event is to attract more crowd (especially for those who have never been to the Greek neighbourhood), they should offer some food samples or at least some forms of discount. Oh, I forgot that "Greek" is always charged extra:D

I was there like 7 or 8 years ago and I swore I would never return, and I never have.

The crowds were OVERWHELMING. It was like being in the busiest bar ever times 10. I remember thinking that I could take my feet off the ground and the crowd would carry me along.

No deals on food, no food anything, just the same old menu as ever, only impossible to breath.

Not for me thanks.

Hot and Spicy Food Festival

I agree, HarbourFront had more space to walk around and truly some interesting sites for guys and gals.

Danforth is so crowded one can hardly move. While down at Harbour Front there were many different areas and quiet spots such as the Music Garden or even down on the Lake where the tall sailing ships docked.

Next weekend is the Taiwanese Festival.

James T, once again we agree....I too was there 2 yrs ago and living in the area, and trying to get around the biggest road block in the world is a royal pain in the ass.

It was a little ridiculous the last time I tried to go: I walked up logan and at the barriers, there were so many people some where actually being forced over the top of the barriers, kind of like 10 pounds of shit in an 8 pound bag. Just plain silly IMO.

I remember last year I had to go to a client's at Yonge and Sheppard, well at the time of the TOTD EVERY northbound street had construction and lane restrictions...It took me 2 hrs to get there and another 2.5 to get back.

I totally understand that events like this are great for business, tourism and the local economy, but blocking off a major artery and many cross streets? Mayor Mel had the right idea when you was pushing for no more road based events.....especially when there is a mega fucking park not 1 block south of the danny where everything could have been held.....

Didn't go this year after going on a Saturday evening last year which consisted of lining up for 10 minutes for a piece of souvlaki and being a lemming in a crowd that is about as crowded as you can get. Everyone looked like they were wandering aimlessly wondering what the fuss is about.
Went to the Oakville Jazz Festival instead.
