I'll say again as I've said before: these folks have every right to protest. They do not, however, have the right to protest illegally.

And dragging children into harms way on a major highway leaves me questioning their wisdom and their tactics. Their compatriots have been accused of using human shields: those allegations only gain credibility.

I find it unfortunate that Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff has encouraged their tactics by promising them the reward of a meeting. I fear for what this group will do next if left unchecked.

It is time to start applying the laws which apply for public endangerment, if not for illegal protests.

I am TRULY embarrassed that Toronto's "finest" allowed this to happen. Having seen some of the footage, I sure wouldn't have wanted to be in the shoes of the 7 or 8 policemen who tried to prevent these idiots from entering the highway. However, don't they have contingency plans in place for this type of thing? I suppose (hope?) they will for next time.

Canadians (Torontonians specifically) really have become the pee-ons of North America. We truly are a tolerant folk! What an embarrassment!! Of course, you could say I've done nothing myself to prevent this, but that isn't true, because I've been a contributing resident of this City since I first started paying taxes, and part of my tax contribution is supposed to go towards the Police Service which has proven to be quite inept with regards to these criminals blocking the roads and highways.

Once again, even though there were less than a hundred protesters at Queen's Park, the TPS saw fit to close University Avenue again today, I presume as a precaution for the U.S. Consulate. It seems they are willing to go to any length to prevent an altercation with these scumbag welfare leeches, including inconveniencing thousands of taxpayers!!

Every one of the protesters occupying the Gardiner last night should have been detained, had their identity verified, and photographed in the act. Those that are in Canada illegally should be IMMEDIATELY deported. Those that are here legally should be given ONE warning: If you protest in an illegal fashion again, you WILL BE deported.

On second thought, let's do this: Next month, instead of their monthly assistance cheque, send them a coach ticket on LTTE airlines to Tamil-ville and a voucher for a free rifle, redeemable upon landing in Sri Lanka. Oh, and the return ticket will be dated for 90 days from now... You see, we'll be paying a little extra now, in order to save money down the road.

If this DOES make the news on CNN today, we'll be the laughingstock of North America, as we justly deserve to be.

If they want to protest at Queen's Park (they need permission to do so, in certain areas), then fine. Who gives a shit, right? The second ANY of them sets foot on a public road or sidewalk (or Highway!!), blast them into oblivion with a Toronto Fire pumper truck, or pepper spray them, or just tase them and get it over with. Have a shitload of mounted units at the ready. Think these idiots can do as they please with police horses stomping their toes?

Wanna put your women and children in harms way? Fine by me. It's YOUR decision to do so... I wouldn't shed a tear if one of your precious little future welfare earners got squashed. Having said all that, it'll never happen. We're too "polite" and "tolerant" for that, unfortunately...

There comes a time when enough is enough, and this is exactly that time for these protesters. I find myself hoping that things get a little violent, so that we can get this mess cleaned up for good.....

This protest if kept organized and does not prove to be a safety issue or endanger the majority of the citizens of the city needs to be let to run its course.
However!!! These protesters should be identified and those on any form of social assistance or Employment Insurance should be cut off from benefits. That's it!!!! I don't think the hard working peace loving average Canadian or New- Canadian should be funding these protests.

It is more than just you and "free time". Generally, all roads get impacted by this. Emergency vehicles can take a lot longer to get to their destination. It is well within the realm of possibility people who need medical assistance can die simply because these protestors feel it is their right to "slow everyone down".

I'm possibly one who would normally be considered somewhat racist, but this latent hatret of these Tamils exhibited by just about everyone here on Terb and elsewhere is pretty eye opening.

Farmers and truckers have also tied up our roads within the last two or three years and I don't recall such vitriol.

Make no mistake, I think that anyone who protests and gets in the way of anyone else going about their business whether it be a farmer saying he doesn't get paid enough for his milk or a union bully blocking someone else from trying to get to work should be charged with a criminal offense.
