Refering to all Tamils as terrorists is the same as refering to all musloims as terrorists, the references are skewed. The phrasing should be some Tamils are terrorists, the probelm is sorting the wolves out from the sheep. When you coinsider that teh last census had aproximatly 30K people of Tamil background in Canada and over 100K have been seen at the protests the scale of the problem starts to become apparant.papasmerf said:

Well who's fault is that, more Sri Lankan's don't speak out about it. Or better yet remove those that are there to support the LTTE.

What I enjoyed was hearing that the police tried to get the plane to change flightplans because they were afraid it would incite the protestors.
So I guess the police have the will to stop some protests...just not this one..I mean isn't it a display of free speech?

I think the media is white-washing this situation pretty good. They keep reporting that the police are on the scene to keep the protests lawful. On the contrary, the cops are there to support and protect the protesters.
I went downtown tonight myself to check-out the situation. You hear a lot of Tamils talk about their "democratic rights" to protest, express themselves, speak out, etc.
I thought I'd try exercising MY democratic rights. As the protesters marched by, I shouted out a few slogans. "Tamils off the Streets," "Stop blocking traffic," "Go home and help your people."
Well, it wasn't a minute or two before the Tamils were right in my face. Milling around, starting to surround me. Screaming at me, raising their fists in the air like they were going to hit me. Some began to touch me, and did get in a few shoves. Others were restrained by their own people.
They don't broach much dissent, these Tamils. Obviously they're not willing to extend to others the same "democratic rights" to free expression that they're so quick to claim for themselves.
It wasn't long before I was confronted with two out-of-uniform officers, and was being shouldered and elbowed aside by 3 more cops in uniform. I just told them that I got the message .... that it's okay for the Tamils to go out on the streets and express their opinions, but it's obviously not okay for people who disagree to do the same.
In my opinion, the Toronto Police are scared shitless of this bunch.
