If “Obama’s people” owned media outlets that paid $150K to Catch and Kill stories about him then please post a non-kook site link to,prove your claim. If not, then stop pulling shit out of your ass.
Oh, please! The photog who took the picture of Obama and Calypso Louie is on record that the Obama's handlers asked him to suppress and he played ball. It is no secret that the last administration had media in its back pocket.

This case, if it goes forward, would set a precedent that there may be a threshold beyond which media organizations stop functioning as such and are no longer entitled to First Amendment protection. Breitbart, InfoWars, Zero Hedge, and the rest of the Far Right Fake News sites are undoubtedly shitting their pants.
This might be something that could slow the rise of 'fake news', at least.
Since facebook et al won't take action or can't take action, there aren't that many other avenues.

It could be interesting to see what else gets pulled up in EI's files.

Did Obama’s people work for a media outlet? Did they pay $150K to Catch and Kill the story and then fail to report it as a campaign contribution?

Not really the same thing, is it?

We will never know or will we, eventually?

Newspapers and media organizations are not the government. Citizens are free to contract with them and in so doing agree to restrict their freedom of speech.

Most people care very little about campaign finance law unless it is something incredibly egregious e.g.: Z gives 35x the legal limit and then a family member receives a highly irregular pardon and Z is appointed Ambassador.

The sort of thing being discussed leaves people cold.

Another case where the press may just be hoisting themselves by their own petard.
oic, the press blew themselves up with this report. Coming from a so called Bernie Sanders supporter is in itself hoisting himself by his own petard!!

On that theory, the only laws worth prosecuting are the entertaining ones.

Al Capone is indicted for tax evasion..... but it's too boring to try him. So he should go free?

He'll still go to court and may have to reveal his taxes.
People do care about that.

According to the article above, the legal limit is $5400 per election cycle.

The $150000 hush money payment would thus be just under 30x the legal limit. That falls just below your threshold of 35x the limit but if you factor in that it involves Trump and a playboy model then that should add a sufficient level of salaciousness that by your formula it would be sufficiently entertaining to be worthy of prosecution.
