Why did you even quote my post,...you didn't, as usual, reply to it.

As far as your statement about ALL Scandinavian countries having a higher standard of living than Canada,...I would like to see your source.
And now we are down to just Scandinavian countries,...a little while back,...it was all of Northern Europe.

The only one higher than Canada, is Norway,...and to get a picture of how this is accomplished,...here`s a good quote,...``Norway's modern manufacturing and welfare system rely on a financial reserve produced by exploitation of natural resources, particularly North Sea oil.
Before the oil shortage made drilling in the ocean worth while,...Norway was just another little frozen country, with a current population of 5 million people, the size of Newfoundland.,...meaningless !!!

And as far as your idea that the NDP could make Canada better than its now,...shit,...it wouldn`t take 10 years for those idiots to bankrupt the country, the Ontario fiasco make it highly unlikely that they would ever be put in power anyway.

These are all the high average standard of living countries but look at the Gini coefficient. The USA is way off, 0.0 = maximum equality, 1.0 = maximum inequality.

What the Social Democratic nations prove is that a high standard of living can be achieved WITHOUT serious inequality.

Still a moving target.

I don't see how the US is way off,...but your numbers do show it ahead of Germany and Sweden, so much for Northern Europe,...

So now we are not talking about Canada any more also.

The USA has a lot of money but the maldistribution of that money towards the 1% and away from the 99% especially away from the bottom 20% means that the poor people live far better in all of the top 10 countries than in the USA, that is what the Gini coefficient is.

A high standard of living is useless unless it raises up all the people.

Actually, its cowardly and dishonest.

And not at all unexpected. This government has been avoiding any tough decisions for at least the past four years.

Indeed, even the Globe and Mail -- which endorsed the Liberals in the last election -- is criticizing the government's refusal to make any difficult decisions.

Difficult decisions means losing the next election. You think they are stupid. Hudak proposing many policies that will cause him to lose.

I see.

So all you're concerned with are what you consider to be "smart" tactics, including the hokum from the government that the province "remains on track" to get back to balanced budgets.

The fact that Ontario is a fiscal mess that is running up far too much debt doesn't bother you (never mind the policies that harm the economy and create unemployment, such as the disastrous Green Energy Act). Got it.

Austerity policies are BOTH bad policies and bad politics.

According to you, the "smart" thing is to do nothing when the times demand leadership and to tell nose-stretchers about the state of affairs.

I disagree with those who call for higher taxes but at least they're advocating something. Waving your wand and hoping the annual deficits will magically disappear doesn't seem all that smart to me.

Oh I agree with tax increases on the rich and corporations.

Do you agree with the Wynne government's approach of doing nothing and misleading the public?
Problem with OLP is I agree with them about half the time. NDP about 90%OPC almost never. Agree with ADK lower class sizes, disapree subways, gas plants, oppose wage controls,

Not me but the big guys are the biggest cheaters in society. I pay my taxes, all of them and I am happy to do it.
And yet your wealth shows you haven't been supporting an equal distribution of wealth and benefited from the labour of the proletariat.. Karl would be mad at you (or call you ein hypocrite). Guess you're just a small time cheater and that's okay.

Protectionism is working very well for China. They have extremely high taxes on imported goods, rules that prevent greater than fifty percent foreign ownership of Chinese companies, and limits on how much capital can leave the country. We should give it a try too.

None of that has prevented a massive influx of capital and a tremendous growth rate, and they have a labor shortage.
Not to mention a rapidly growing educated working class that will soon be wanting the benefits from their work. If you haven't noticed, much of China's success has been from utilizing their large population for cheap labour. The more that population isn't satisfied with cheap wages, China's economy will be under great stress.

Nobody supports equal distribution of wealth. Just "fair" distribution.

And have you been fair to the people you have profited from or have you just been climbing over their backs?
I pay above scale to get good people and keep them. They appreciate it and respond with productivity and loyalty.

Municipalities hiring consultants to report. Isn't that why there are municipal staff? If they aren't qualified to provide the same advice, why are they still employed?

Tip of the iceburg buddy. The bottom line is that until the colossal waste is eliminated from every level of government then the government can go fuck themselves before they turn to the taxpayer again.

Go ahead and try and defend your socialist blather. You can't defend the indefensible. You sound like the fool you've proven to be every time you tap your keyboard.
hey dirk;

Simple solution. Just put this ignorant 'intellectual' on ignore, as I have.

It is truly astounding when political partisan ideology blinds a person so that they do not see what is staring at them in the face.

As predicted, Wynne is mulling the idea of more tax increases.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...tax-hikes/article15367866/#dashboard/follows/

And let's be clear about this -- she ain't just thinking about tax hikes on the wealthy. To get anywhere near the kind of amounts she might need, she would need to increase taxes on everyone.

Although I disagree with this approach, I could respect Wynne if she were honest about it. If she admitted the province is in a mess and was frank about the fact that she thinks tax hikes are the way to solve it, we could at least have an honest debate -- raise taxes or cut some of the Liberals' big-dollar projects (and smaller ones, too).

But Wynne continues to demonstrate a Dalton-like preference for dishonesty, such as her fanciful claims that the province "remains on track" to get back to balanced budgets.
