If it was obtained illegally then how did he get it? Again this is a serious matter where banking privacy laws were broken for a political attack.

If you are so blinded by personal hatred for Trump not to see the greater issue just remember that this is a greater attack on democracy than anything you claim Trump has done.

Do you really want proxies to be able to release illegally obtained private banking Information on anyone they choose for gain and get away with it?
Butler - you need to control your gushing man-love for Trump and take a deep breath. It is possible that he obtained the documents LEGALLY via subpoena to a bank for information related to the Civil suit being contested in California. Possible. Nobody knows so rather than concentrating on how he obtained them, concentrate in whether he should have released the info, or maybe, just maybe comment on the contents of what was released (since nobody is disputing the contents).

Is it possible he obtained the person banking information of other innocent people with the name Michael Cohen as well? From a Supeona?

Because that's what happened. And surely as a competent lawyer he would have actually looked at the information he received?

So yes the information is in dispute. He released the WRONG MICHAEL COHEN'S banking information! A couple different ones in fact.

So if it was YOUR information that was somehow obtained and released just because you shared the name.....Would you be fine with this?

Time to investigate the bank. And from there to find out exactly how he received all this. And why he chose to release innocent people's banking.

And you're basing this on the words of Michael Cohen?
The guy who said the exact same things about the Trump Piss Dossier accusations that he went to Prague to pay of the Russians?

You probably also believe that Trump had the biggest inauguration crowd ever, eh?

No basing this on CNN and What was released.

Avenetti released banking information of people named Michael Cohen but not the Michael Cohen.

So without going off on tangents feel free to explain how he obtained this information on innocent people and why he chose to release it without vetting.

Then explain why you think the ends justify the means......

Presumably, the subpoena would be for the bank's suspicious activities reports. So it would be the bank's responsibility to release this information if requested under subpoena. Remember, the U.S. banking laws do not protect the identity of customers - I seem to remember (but haven't confirmed) that some components of the Patriot Act compelled banks to gather beneficial owner identity records so that suspicious transfers of large amounts of money could be tracked. So your assumption that the bank did something wrong is likely wrong.

Some of the transaction were for under $1000 . So no there won't be protections.

More importantly though is again how did Avenetti get a hold of transactions not related to Cohen.

And why did he release the financial information of innocent people for public consumption?

That is now the question.

Is this fair? Should innocent people who happen to share a name of someone else have their life exposed without consequences?

For a couple of weeks I've stated that Michael Avenatti was behaving less and less as most Lawyers in this situation would behave but rather like a political operative. Well now it turns out that apparently he is not being paid by Stephanie Clifford but rather by secret actual clients.

Further Ms. Clifford seemingly changed legal representation because she was advised by Counsel (as I believe all most all of us would) to honor her NDA. While Michael Avenatti advised her to ignore the arbitration judgment against her and told her to go ahead with her “60 Minutes” interview.

Further I have little doubt that it will turn out to be Democratic 'deep pockets' who have offered to pay her penalties.

Michael Avenatti is one smart cookie. He is running circles around Donald and Cohen and all their expensive lawyers, including Giuliani.

I hope he does not get disbarred before Trump resigns.

Michael Avenatt increasingly strikes me as a political operative, rather than as a lawyer representing a client.
Check his background. His credibility is questionable, to say the least.
Maybe not. The infirmation he us leaking should not be in his possession. It's private banking Information he never received as a part of any case.

This may well be illegal. Both with the bank and him. At least that's what I saw reported on CNN.

Oops.

But no comment on Putin's people sending money to Trump's personal lawyer?

Even ignoring the Russians, I would think that companies with business in front of the government making payments to Trump's personal lawyer for "advice" is pretty much the definition of "swamp".

Prove it was used nefariously....

Avenetti appears to have broken the law.

The perception is exactly the kind of swamp that Trump campaigned against and it is ridiculous that you are falling all over yourself to pretend it was all okay. Notice you have not even hinted that the reports are wrong.

And yes, it is clearly influence peddling. The only question is whether Trump was involved or if it was simply Cohen scamming companies.

That's what I meant. If Cohen operated independently

F*cking unbelievable !!!! The level of blissful ignorance to support this vile disgusting habitual liar Trump. Facts after facts after facts heap on to a pile showing irrefutable proof that Trump colluded with Russians, has authorized tax cuts that will save him billions, and now that a direct flow of cash from the Russians and the only thing Trump supporters can do is attack those providing the proof - not the contents - just the people shattering their painfully naive misguided allegiance to this corrupt piece of garbage.

I know it must be getting more and more embarrassing to spew out this Trump support trash while ignoring facts but - come on - it's more embarrassing for us to watch. Trump will go down in US history as the closest to a successful attempt for a Russian 'Manchurian Candidate' in history. Get you Russian Trump candidate groomed and controlled ( with a touch of blackmail) in Russia, support his falling businesses with laundered money, support Trump's run with divisive racist ads, coordinated releases of stolen e-mails and a network of back channels to avoid detection. Is the logic that hard to grasp ???

While following the Trump supporter tact of shooting the messenger and ignoring the message - don't forget that Avenetti is simply doing what a good attorney does and follows the money. The company and accounts he is following happens to be filled with additional payouts of a suspicious nature. Why aren't Republican Trump supporters pushing to have the entire account exposed - particularly who got the Russian money ?

Look for a renewed effort to stop Mueller as Trump conspirators have learned that Avenetti is at least 6 months behind Mueller who has already detained the Russian oligarch that directed money to Cohen/Trump LLC, prompted the raid to get Cohen's financial records, and engage in a wiretapping including calls to Trump. Christopher Steele's report that was ignored by Trump lovers (attacking the messenger) has proven extremely reliable. Even Cohen's trip to meet Russians has proven to be true.

Hmm, risking being disbarred and smart cookie -- oxymoron or not.
On currents known facts, I would put $ on Cohen being disbarred long before Avenatti and Giuliani being fired long before either loses his licence.

Pot calling the kettle black. Giuliani "litigates" on Fox & Friends and lies like a motherfucker, changing his story every time Trump snaps his fingers and you have a problem with Avenatti???!!!???! For Fuck's sake!

No one gives a shit about ethics in this crowd. All of them are about going on TV to try and kill the other side in the "court" of public opinion. It's all TV and politics for both sides.

Bernie is quietly at the moment continuing to build on the grass roots movement. He is using money donated to support progressive midterm candidates in primaries. Speaking at rallies for these people.

From nothing he has built a decent sized political machine that is in part responsible for some of the down ballot new faces being seen.

The best part is at the end if the primaries in 2016 he refused to give the DNC his email/donor list. It's all his.

It is my hope this genuine work he is doing will result in enough to be able to run an Independent campaign(health willing) for president in 2020. He should have enough support to get into the debates.

Then the Uniparty candidates will have to address real progressive issues like universal health care and better school funding across the board.

But there is no point discussing it now. He is doing it right. Really building a base coalition of groups. And some big ones too.

In the meantime Trump is a nice distraction. Let the Press chase bread and circuses and continue the smoke and mirrors show.
