I just watched Stephen a Smith talk about this. I'm not big on the wp thing but he may have a point. Patrick Ewing has never been able to get a sniff in the NBA.

On a side note, rumors are giannis might be headed to Miami, so between Miami, Boston, and NJ things look bleak for the raptors next year. Their supposed superstar siakim is turning out to be fairly average.

Pascal was never a #1 type of guy, He can't put the ball on the floor to score. He has no Isolation moves. Marcus Smart is a good defender but have you seen him take Kawhi one on one? Giannis, Adebayo and Butler next year is a force for the Heat.

He was grossly overpaid then. I think the raptors are headed down which is OK as it's cyclical anyway. Who would want to live in Milwaukee?

I'd like to think so that Pascal was overpaid. He is young and he showed improvement from his rookie year but there are limits to his potential. He simply wasn't cut in the same cloth as the Kawhis and Lebrons of the league. He has the length but he doesn't have the agility and dribbling ability to really drive off any body or pull up jumpers.

He has no point on the WP. Nash was hired because the two superstars on the Nets (Durant and Irving, both black players) wanted him to be coach because they have a close relationship with him. The owner and front office people aren't going to go against the wishes of the best players.

According to a report from The Economist, Milwaukee is the most segregated city in the American Midwest. Not a chance Giannis will stay.

The Celtic match up well against the Raptors, their bigs are younger and their back court is taller. The thought of Giannis going to the Heat is terrifying. We know what Mr. Foot Juice (Jimmy Butler is an aficionado of high end Italian wine) can do, it's Bam Adebayo that's scary. He looks like Ben Wallace with softer hands. Put Giannis in the mix and you have a juggernaut. I was a Pistons fan while the Raptors endured the horrors of Richard Peddie.

Jimmy Butler's tour of Sassicaia Winery is in the Raptors thread, a young vintage goes for $200.00 a pop.

White privilege or maybe because he was one of the smartest players? He clearly understands the game.

Claiming WP is simply a case of trying to be provocative.

Ewing is as dumb as a bag of rocks so that's why he hasn't gotten a sniff.

Just because the world is more black-conscious these days doesn't mean they get to skip the line. There was talk Kevin Weekes was in the running for the Florida GM vacation. What are his credentials? Sportsnet conveniently added Anthony Stewart to their panel and man does he suck.

Steven A Smith is talking nonsense.. I look at it this way Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai who is a Canadian Citizen of Asian descent hired a fellow Canadian Steve Nash to be head coach of the Brooklyn Nets!

Stephen A Smith looks for controversy. Nash was hired because of his relationship with the owner and players. Derek fisher was hired as coach with no experience. Doc rivers also. Are there more qualified coaches that could have gotten the job? Yes Mark Jackson is top of the list there. But it came down to a view and change in culture that the owner and Nash probably agree upon ala Golden state with Steve Kerr.

I'm of the opinion that hiring anybody in any sport to coach with no previous experience is a recipe for disaster.

I believe even the ones who worked out would say they had steeper learning curve because of their lack of relative experience.

I always say just hire the best possible person for the job right now. Not sure in this case Nash is that guy but ownership feels different obviously.

Except for Kerr (who was more of a shooting guard)the common trait is they were all point guards. Basically floor Generals when they played. Not surprising that the position has fast hires.

ESPN is a woke joke that’s bleeding cash compared to year’s past

I don't disagree with his hiring and the reasons are solid though it does make sense why other experienced, successful black coaches would be upset at being overlooked for a guy with no experience.

I am also a bit surprised that after pushing a boycott of the bubble over systemic racism Kyrie signed off on this.

First sign of trouble. Both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant said Steve Nash is not the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. That it will be a collaborative system where some days it will be Nash, other days Irving or Durant or even assistant coach Vaughn. Dysfunction coming? Not good.
Irving is a cancer to any team. I have no idea why anyone would want him.

Why do people keep hiring Doc Rivers. He won a title with an all star team and a few hall of famers. He's a terrible coach. He was called out by his own team for not making any adjustments. His whole coaching career has been like that.
