Understandably you are focused upon gas and oil. No surprise there.
But I would suggest, that instead of bringing gas prices in Canada to Danish level, first:
1. Build out public transportation so nobody has to have a car. The published policy for public transportation in Denmark is, that from your home, you should not have more than 15 minutes walk to public transportation.
2. Provide bicycle paths on most roads and streets, such that a large proportion of people can get to work and shopping on bicycles. That has health benefits also.
Where I live, there is no public transportation. Zero, Zilch, nada
Not twice a day, or even once a day. There is Nothing.
go ahead and ride your bike from any of the 905 to downtown in January that would be real popular with the office workers or they can drive in their heated car without having to sit on a bus beside someone who hasnt praticed personal hygene in years.
