Some tasty BBQ

I was helping my son move today and as a reward, he took me for lunch.

We went to Beach Hill Smokehouse on Main. We ordered waaay to much food but I wanted to have lots of different tastes.

We ordered a platter that had brisket, pork ribs, spicy sausage, and some chicken. The chicken was only OK but the others were excellent. And the sides were also very tasty... beans, slaw and potato salad (might have been red potatoes). We took home leftovers and I'm still stuffed.

BBQ spots, when done properly are great places to eat. But it is the same price as The Keg in order to feel somewhat full. And those Ribfests are just crazy expensive. Oh well.

Good to know about this place, in the US these smokehouses are all over the place. I remember once in Oklahoma city the supermarket had smokers outside. You buy your roast and they would smoke it for you.

But seriously... thanks for the review. I''m in the mood for some great smoked food today! Maybe some nice sticky, sauced ribs and a pound of smoked turkey for a picnic (sailing) lunch tomorrow!

Is it more Carolina-style sauce (bit of acidity) or Texas (sweeter)?

As long as he knows in advance, he can make his own choice. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think that his (main) issue was that they were serving it to him without his knowledge.

That's why I made sure he knows! There are Halal certificates posted in all restaurants serving Halal food. Seems his issues run deeper.

There's a fairly new one, started out as a food truck before opening a permanent spot last fall.
