Spent some time yesterday surfing around the election results. I found some interesting info. The eight biggest metropolitan areas in the USA are 1) NY 2) LA 3) Chicago 4) Philly 5) San Fran 6) DC/Baltimore 7) Boston 8) Detroit. What do they have in common? All Kerry states.
I checked out a few other states and was startled by the results in Texas. I guess I just assumed Bush would get 99%. Here are some figures:
Travis County (Austin - Capital) Kerry won 196K to 147K
El Paso County - Kerry won 94k to 73K
Dallas County - Bush won 345 K to 335K
Harris County (Houston) - Bush won 580K to 472K
Bexar County (San Antonio) Bush won 259K to 210K
Kerry won ever county in Mass.
Other Metropolitan areas in Bush states. Atlanta - Kerry 60%, St. Louis - Kerry 81%, Charlotte - Kerry - 52% Cleveland - Kerry 67%, Denver - Kerry 70%, New Orleans - Kerry 77%, Louisville - Kerry 51%, Kansas City - Kerry 58%, Miami - Kerry 54%, Nashville - Kerry 55%, Indianaplolis - Kerry 51%. These results are the counties, so I believe it inludes a portion of the suburban areas. This elections was won by rural America. I saw a lot of polls on women vs. men, married vs. single, old vs. young. I didn't see one on college educated vs. no college. Result, a self proclaimed C student leading the the free world elected by the hicks. Now I know why the tv programming is the way it is. Were all trying to reach out to the lowest common denominator. The Democrats should have run Jerry Springer, they would have won in a landslide. Maybe Bush can make a realty show out of the Presidency.
