I don't have Facebook...or Twitter...or Linkedin...or Instagram...why would I need one, I know they are popular, I don't live on Mars but am I missing out on something?

I'm on Twitter, well my alternative personality is, but only as a consumer and not the content creator. A very useful tool to sift through the SPs. Twitter is a cesspool, btw.

Terb and online forums are technically also social media, mediums or platforms to communicate information between people digitally, usually with a substantial sized audience.

It's the type of information shared on certain types of platforms that OP doesn't like. That's more of the correct diagnosis.

How many do you have?

So for a hobbyist a minimum of 3 core alter personalities exist. Real life , social media and hobby. Those even branch off into their own sub categories lol

No wonder more and more people are depressed and need to seek professional help. They have no more idea what they are and their purpose and meaning.

You aren't missing anything. Social media has become an empty soul sucking waste of time.
True, although you still find amazing people on there if you can resist the toxic and social engineering aspects.

However it’s becoming harder and harder.

Agreed. I have a bunch of business related social media accounts yet, but my two more personal Twitter accounts have both been suspended. Heh. Good trouble?

I use social media each for something different

My own personal life on one for family and friends blah which is facebook and somewhat IG

then my stage name character use social media one for reaching a broader audience and just being quirky :p

Social media can be a great tool but it can also wreck peoples life...honestly at the end of the day with social media its all a balancing act ^-^

I despise Reddit babies.

Terb is great for laughing at ridiculous boomers; but nevertheless I've had some great conversations that provide great insight into hobbying.

Hobby Twitter is for tiddies and ass and figuring out which providers are men hating lesbians.

Facebook is a no go.

LinkedIn is a joke, unless you're really struggling to find work.

Instagram is useless as Facebook, litearlly sfw tiddies and ass version of twitter.

Used snap, but can't be bothered any more; too zoomer oriented.

TikTok bad; like orange man.

That's my bitching for the day.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon!

Haha...a soul sucking waste of time...you’re describing government, marriage and any job that pays less than $20 an hour.

While I have no hang ups about this activity nor do I have to do it in secret and beeing only limited by my desire, an incognito approach is highly advisable since this field is densely populated by many undesirable characters. Not to mention that it is illegal. I can assure you that I am exactly the same in my "real" life as I am in here. It's one of the perks of having a bit of cash, being the certain age and having the major family and social obligations in the past.

Just last night, a friend of one of my Facebook friends found a lost dog that was cold and frightened. They took the dog in for the night, fed her, snapped a photo of her and and posted the photo on Facebook. Loads of people shared the photo, and then someone who knows the owners of the dog got in touch with my friend's friend this morning, and they were able to return her safely just a few hours ago.

There's a great example of how social media can work in a good way. :) :)

For me, I don't think about escort activity or celebrity pages or anything like that...I get curious about getting in touch with long lost people that I knew from high school/college/former workmates, but as someone else mentioned, I don't know it I like my personal information out there or being so easily accessible.

Now here’s a good thing about social media...those morons who stormed the US Capital are bragging and showing video of it and cops are just picking them off, and they’re providing the evidence...how stupid are these people.

Use Facebook mainly because of grandchildren living in Ottawa and Denmark. The wife now uses what's app and it is great, she can connect with her relatives in Trinidad and Venezuela at no cost. The rest suck.

It is similar to finding that lost dog. Except the dog serves a purpose.

I’m the same. FB for family, Twitter for work.
