"No two nations in the world are as integrated, economically and socially, as are the United States and Canada.

We share geography, values and the largest unprotected border in the world.

Regardless of this close friendship, our two countries are on a slow-motion collision course—with each other and with the rest of the world.

While we wrestle with internal political gridlock and fiscal challenges and clash over border problems, the economies of the larger world change and flourish."

we would have cheaper internet and cell phones and American Netflix 💃🕺

it's a win win :)

Let the people decide !
What a fucking waste of time that would be. Very few want to join the US, only fucktards think we do.

Yes, where countries still had their sovereignty.
Phil proposed a similar North American union where Canada, Mexico and the US form a similar union.
That is worth considering.
Freedom of movement, jobs, ease of doing business etc.,
" Sovereignty in its simplest form means governmental power over people and land.

Governments possess sovereignty.

The United States has sovereignty, each state has sovereignty, and Indian tribes have sovereignty.

The sovereignty of the United States comes from each state."

all I can glean from some responses is that people who responded do not understand even a simplest of questions, unfortunately :(

question is "should we have a referendum" and not "do you want Canada to be part of USA"
The answer is no. The primary reason is polling since this stupid trolling began shows 13% said they would consider it. That threshold is way too low to waste any time and expense on a question with an obvious no answer.

Beyond that while I'm not a constitutional expert there would be further provincial jurisdiction involved. As well as various legal challenges to the notion it would be even legal to pose the question.

Now to my other thing.

If you are a Canadian citizen feel free to get the fuck out. If you are an American citizen why would I even consider joining a nation that has normalized school shootings, mass shootings, mass surveillance of its civilian population, has selective service registration, and mass government corruption at every level?

Why would I join a nation to live in fear when I enjoy more freedom here?

Hell no on a referendum.
It shouldn't even be suggested.
Why give that orange turd another boost to his ego.
Canada is a sovereign nation and needs to stay that way.
There are a lot of values we DO NOT share. We really aren't similar in a lot of ways.
Only good thing about our political leaders right now is they all reject the idea of Canada being a 51st state.
