I missed it Dane, only had time to watch Napoli vs Verona. Napoli may have the best defense in Europe: Maksimovic, Koulibaly, Manolas, De Lorenzo,. They are going to be tough to beat, they play Barcelona in the CL.

Preben Elkjaer-Larsen 28 goals; source Calciomercato.

Won the scudetto with Verona in 1985. He even scored bare footed against Juventus.

I see somewhere 32 goals in Serie A for Elkjaer

I dunno why he is not in the first list I posted.

If you include Coppa Italia, it's 32 goals. I just tabulated regular season matches.

Denmark won bronze in soccer at the olympic in London 1948, after which a bunch of the players went to Italy.

John Hansen was top scorer in the 1948 Olympic tournament.
He received the Ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana
He was Capocannoniere in the 1951–52 Serie A season

Inter Parma crazy ending.

Untill the last few minutes I thought Parma was more dangerous, even as Cornelius should have scored twice. Inter seemed flat.

From the Premiere League thread. I've been looking for a clip of the incident, so far nothing.

Gennarino became a starter for Milan when Carlo Ancelotti became manager. He was a tough and very unpredictable player with a mounting list of red cards. In the spring of 2005, in a game vs Juventus, Gennarino completely lost it. He got red carded and went after the referee, several players tried t hold him back but he was insistent. Then it happened, a Milan player grabbed Gennarino by the collar and forcibly escorted him off the pitch. Gennarino was shocked, then he saw who it was and the fight drained from him. He knew he was in for a very looooong night. The intervention probably saved his career.

And who was the player that took him of the pitch? The player known as The Godfather, a moniker he earned.

Gennarino has mellowed somewhat, he's developing into a very good tactical coach and has the support of the Napoli players. He still slaps his players in praise.

Stories about his madness are legend.

Hard to imagine anyone grabbing him by the scruff of the neck, thought I'd see it in that clip lol
bad ass karma, sooner or later they meet a badder ass.

Still not sure how Maradona survived in that league, he played for Napoli too. Some folks I know visited Italy, reached Napoli
then turned back north, terrain was quite different :)

I wouldn't be surprised to see him coaching an EPL team, a la Ranieri, the slapping routine won't work well in that league though.

DeLigt with some excellent games since league started again.
He's a #1 CB starter now, ahead of everyone else

It was a great day for Dutch players in Italy. Two players born in 1999 are leading their clubs, Bastoni has been remarkable.

Not such great day for danish players in Italy.

Both de Ligt and Bastoni came out of the league suspension with something to prove. With squad rotations to deal with the current schedule, Bastoni came on in the second half. Gervinho was getting around the aging Godin too easily.

De Vrij will get to know Kulusevski very well, he joins Juve in the summer. No comparison video between De Ligt and Bastoni, eventually there will be.
