A leadership that seeks to co-operate with the rest of the world so that economic relations can be normalized.
Hopefully a leader who is committed to democratizing Russia and not killing opposition figures and journalists?

The only problem here is, Putin will not allow Navalny to live past him. If Russia were a democracy it would surpass the PRC in a hurry. Russia is dying both economically and demographically.

There are strong voices in Russia, fortunately Putin isn't Stalin or Ivan Grozny. So far Elina Bakunova hasn't been silenced. She's an anthropologist not a politician.

Somebody who is not as aggressive after they've seen Russia's ass handed to them by the world because of this invasion.
Scientifically and culturally, Russia is one of the most advanced nation's on Earth, they almost single-handedly defeated Nazi Germany in WWII. Their technology has always been highly sophisticated and relatively maintenance free. Unfortunately since Ivan III liberated Russia from the Mongol Yoke, every ruler after him has been a piece of crap. I still contend that Russia has unlimited potential - if it gave democracy a try.

I don't think its really democracy. Its that the culture seems to expect repression, adversity etc. They cannot accept that anything good can come without first fighting for it.
The world is also going to get its ass handed to it by a massive recession that is being brewed right now.
Ukraine just said they are suspending all grain exports for the year.
That's going to lead to big shortages and food prices going through the roof.
That's on Putin.
We are in a massive recession, it just hasn't been reported, yet. Where we are going is into a depression.
Not really, you need 2 quarters of GDP shrinkage. In Canada GDP will still grow because of energy prices. So it will take a while before the official recession def hits.
