That is true, the world is so tied together economically that any large scale war would ruin everyone. Just look at the global supply chain and the chip shortage.
If we get in a war with China, most of our medicine stops arriving.

I believe China or Xi is hoping that American division will allow them to take over Taiwan without a major war. Right-wing media especially idiots like Tucker Carlson are already taking Putin's side over Ukraine. It won't be much of a leap for these media grifters to side with China over Taiwan, after all right-wing medias real and only enemy are democrats and liberals.

International politics is done under threat of force. So Russia has just decided it won't be taken seriously unless it asks NATO in language that NATO can understand. Any other way and they are not being taken seriously. They want something, time to think of what we can get in return.
Do not equalise Russia with their leaders. What Putin wants is not what most Russians want. A help against Putin regime would be nice.

What is precisely the American interest in Ukraine? Or Canada's for that matter?

Natural resources.
So, we are going to war with Russia over natural resources in Ukraine? Where did you hear that? I heard from Pelosi herself that this is about the territorial integrity and the secured borders of Ukraine. Which one is it?

Why are you changing the question? Those are 2 different answers to 2 different questions.

And if you heard from Pelosi herself it’s about territorial integrity… why are you asking here? What part didn’t you understand?

I'm asking because you seem to have information no one else is using as a cause for war. It's one thing to destroy some shit hole in the third world, it's quite another to push around a nuclear armed dictator. If things go really badly, even hiding behind the American skirt won't help you.

No. I don’t have any secret information at all. Ukraine is rich with natural resources. That has never been a secret. That is the interest in Ukraine, which was the question I answered. Why we’d (NATO) would go to war is a different question.

My best friend is a hard core Conservative like yourself. He seems to believe Russia did not pay for the Natural Gas being piped into Russia, so Ukraine shut the taps off. Not sure where he got that idea from… he tends to believe a lot of silly righty fb memes about Trudeau stealing Canadian freedoms. So…

I doubt we’ll go to war. Putin is not stupid. Not sure what his end game is, but it’s not nuclear war.

however, caving like little bitches is not the answer either.

Again, it’s clear the GOP and their media stooges are in bed with the Russians. Not sure why the righties support that, but it’s obvious they do.

Firstly, I'm a liberal. Secondly, Ukraine is not a NATO member and we have no national interest in Ukraine and neither has America. And above all, even our European NATO partners are not interested in an armed conflict with Russia.

Nobody said Ukraine was a NATO member. Still, they are in a strategic position and supply Europe (our NATO partners) with resources, including natural gas. Not sure Europe wants Russia moving in on that.

The question is not what interest do we have in Ukraine…. It’s, what is Russia’s interest in Ukraine? They have done nothing to Russia, and NATO has not been planning any invasions. LOL. The Russian political line has been laughable. So what’s with all of the aggression? They cozied up to the GOP when they held power, and suddenly we’re at the brink war when Trump loses? Seems really odd to me.

haha ok so now you wann try a regime change against one of the top nuclear powers on the planet.. How the fuck do you know what Russians want? We are a democracy and more then 50% of Canadians disapprove of trudeau and external polls indicate Putin has more support then any western leader from Russians.

Ukraine is merely a transit state. Russia supplies Europe with gas. Not a lick of it comes from Ukraine. They have to import from Russia as well. Yes they are strategically located in that they have a HUGE border with Russia and Russia need a lot of troops to protect that border, even more if they join NATO. So may as well squash them now and nip the problem in the bud.

Ukraine was very Russian centric. The US overthrew the democratically elected leader, replaced him with some stooges that changed language laws and is forcing all to learn and operate un Ukrainian. Many do not speak very good Ukrainian. It would be kinda like Steven Harper got overthrown and all of Canada was forced to operate in French. by the BQ. How would that go over?

The GOP( those who are not pro war) are asking the same question every other intelligent person wants answered- what is the objective and how can it be reached? The Ukrainian "mineral" exchange with western Europe is certainly not an issue especially compared with the scale of the energy transfers from Russia. And why bring Trump.into this? You loose all the credibility when you do. Putin never moved when Trump was in office, but he did move when Obama was in charge. As of today, nobody yet articulated what is Putin's objective in Ukraine? All we know is that he opposes the expansion of NATO east of the Bug river. Shouldn't that be the starting point? Else, we are going to blunder into a conflict without reason just like WWI.
