Man bites dog.

Russell Brand is set to make up to £20million from his divorce from wife Katy Perry, according to reports.

The comedian is in line for the huge lump sum in a 50/50 split of the couple's earnings even after just 14 months of marriage.

Brand, 36, and Perry, 27, didn't sign a pre-nuptial agreement when they married in October so under Californian law, he could be entitled to half of her fortune.

If he was a man, he'd just walk away and let her keep her money.

He has more than enough of his own.

Do you guys like his movies?

He tries to be funny, but I don't think it's his role.

He's not a bad actor though.

He's a likeable guy and probably more genuine that most people in showbiz. I think that the news item is misleading about what he stands to gain.

In Ontario, he would be entitled to 50% of the difference of the amount his wealth increased during the marriage and the amount her wealth increased during marriage. That could be far, far less than 50% of her gross overall worth.

Remember Mel Gibson's wife was married to him during his entire career and when they started out he was just another struggling no name pretty boy in Sydney.

Not to have a pre-nup, she is dumb. Hey fair is fair, he gets half and ends-up ahead. This doesn't happen this way very often when the man makes out like a bandit.

On the other hand he is not funny at all to me and she has no vocal skills just great marketing people and auto-tune technology. Shows you there are a lot of people who will buy into any crap these days.

It will be interesting to see if he tries to profit from the marriage. To me that would say a lot about who he is as a man. I can understand women taking men to the cleaners (especially if the men cheat), but something just doesn't seem right about a man profiting from divorce with a woman. Makes him seem less "manly" to me and more of a profiteer (which maybe he was to begin with, who knows).

No, it's called "doing the right thing"

General principle.

If he rakes her over the coals, a lot of people will not think well of him either.

He doesn't need the money. He is able to make his own.

Totally agree, for someone that has advisors surrounding her from all angles, that was a pretty dumb oversight.

On the other hand he is not funny at all to me and she has no vocal skills just great marketing people [/QUOTE] I agree IMO he is not funny and has no vocal or even acting skills, perhaps he has some great marketing but because I'm not his target market I also think he's lousy at marketing, lol.

Everybody needs money, and it would be plain foolish not to take what the justice system says is his.

Moreover, to not take what's his merely because he has a penis and she has a vagina would be incredibly sexist and insulting to all the feminists on Earth.

I say if he is a real man (and not a chauvinist pig), he should take it out of principle.

This is a great opportunity for a real man to show that we men stand for equality and are not kidding around but are prepared to put our money where our mouth is, even if it means losing popularity with "some people" (who are, no doubt, hiding behind fake chivalry but clearly don't believe in equality).

Remember it is not like he is exactly broke either. He has had several recent movies, a couple of books out and he is quite in demand himself. She would be entitled to 50% of his assets. I am sure they will work it out.

I think women's groups should support him to prove that they have conviction as to their decades long pursuit of equality.
