Man, what a hard fought final. It was brutal. It seemed that half the players were bloodied or marked up by the end. Two great teams.

Kolbe was disconsolate once he got the yellow. He couldn't watch.

South Africa repeat.

Who was that No.9 who looked like a muscular Peter Frampton? He was in the middle of everything and made an important tackle that caused an All Blacks turnover.

He might have been the guy that won the MVP. I forget his name.

The final was a matchup of contrasting styles. The New Zealand All Blacks are an offensive juggernaught once headlined by the best offensive player to ever play the game Jonah Lomu. They are entertainers. The South African Springboks are defensive stalwarts featuring huge Afrikaans players bred on beef and corn on farms in the heartland. They play boring strategy to win by kicking penalties and kicking for position.

Of the 8 reserves on the bench, most teams select 4 defenders and 4 attackers. Except for South Africa who have 6 defenders and 2 attackers. Late in games when bodies are exhausted, South Africa brings on the extra fresh defenders to close out the games. This is how they defeated France in the QF, England in the SF and New Zealand in the final all by just one point.

South African championship teams of 2019 and 2023 were captained by a black, Siya Kolisi, which was unheard of 30 years ago. His marriage to a white woman was forbidden until Mandela came to power in 1994. Today, even die hard Afrikaans tolerate the union so far as Kolisi brings home championships.

It'd encouraging that blacks are being incorporated into what was once an all white sport. The majority of black South Africans are small, they prefer football to rugby. Except for those from The Eastern Cape (where Mr. Kolisi is from) and Natal-Zulu of which the capital is Durban.

The comparison to Peter Frampton is in accurate, Faf De Klerk is closer to Dustin Clare (Spartacus - Gods of the Arena).

The King of Kings recently said he's America's Nelson Mandela. Mandela was 6' 4" and a native of the Eastern Cape as well. Mr. Kolisi has very strong blood lines.

That's before he entered Robben Island.

Interestingly SA still has an All Blacks following going back to the 60's or 70's where one Maori player was given an exemption to play in SA, becoming the first non-white pro athlete Apartheid South Africa saw live.

It's Six Nations time again, I have complete confidence that Italy will retain the wooden spoon.

Anal Johnson didn't want the Irish.

A better effort by the Azzurri, younger players are coming into the squad. They're not yet at a level capable of beating England. I expect improvement, rugby is the second most popular sport in Italy, what's the point of competing if they're only going to get skunked.

Excellent effort by i Azzurri. They could well have won that match.
