I've never really watched but I've got a golf buddy who is S. African. The very 1st whole game I watched was the S. Africa/France game.

So now I've got a horse in the race.

And the good news (for you) is that I don't think that there will be any discussion of point spreads, although I'm sure there some.

New Zealand beat Argentina 44 - 6 in yesterday's 1st semi-final.

England vs. South Africa today at 3pm TSN4 in the 2nd semi-final.

All Blacks look the class of the field, as almost always.

My team gave a weak performance and got eliminated in the quarters.

A few nice games to watch. Portugal impressed with a missed kick to win over Georgia and a win against a Fiji team that was on fire. The France v SA game was one of the more exciting games I've seen in a while with the NZ/Ireland not far behind.

NZ wasn't expected to do well this year, even by a lot of Kiwis but their class has been showing. And I don't know how England has gotten so far. They've been very unimpressive in the lead-up.

Anyone old enough to remember when Canada wasn't an embarrassment?

That game was brutal, dogged determination by both the Springboks and the Three Lions.

My knowledge of rugby is limited, I'll have to refer to Rugby for dumbasses to learn more. I do understand strategy, the Springboks purposelessly left their hogs on the bench for the first half. They came in fresh for the second half half and started winning the line (if that's what it's called) battles. The game turned when England gave up the safety (if that's what's it's called).

Shack here's the scherzo.

Bad coverage by I Azzurri.

England had the easiest Pool, D.

Pool A: NZ, France
Pool B: Ireland, R.A.S.

Pool C: Wales ????

I don't know how S. Afr. pulled it out. Down 15-9 and there was no offense to be had.
England know how to slow the game down to a snails pace and methodically kick their way deep into tournaments, even when they dont have a very good team. The commentators kept saying how they’re this “great tournament team.“ Still the only northern hemisphere team to win the world cup and made the most final appearance. They lost all their warm up matches in the lead up to the World Cup and finished 4th in the 6 nations.

The power of the South African scrum killed them in the end after England subbed off some of their forward line. 4 scrum penalties in a row In the last 10 minutes.

This was supposed to be the tournament where the northern hemisphere finally dominate the south. Especially Ireland and France but it ended up being same as always in the end, either South Africa or New Zealand.

There was controversy about SA because they used every sub position for the big boys and some whiners thought that wasn't fair. One of the things I like about rugby is their willingness to try new things so I have no issue with it and obviously plays to their strengths so why wouldn't they? (Anyone remember Italy's unique defence against England
)

I don't like either SA or England so watching the game was an adventure in who I like least.

Even with my limited knowledge, I thought the strategy was brilliant. I'm attempting to catch up for Saturday's final.

From a marketing standpoint, the Haka is gold. It draws in the casual fans almost more than the game itself. With it's relentless commercial programming, I lose interest in gridiron football.

Would Mr. Congeniality agree. I thought France had won at least one WC.

Scary looking bunch. The bearded guy (front) made an erroracio that could have gifted SA a try.
