Ron Ellis just passed at 79. He was one of the classiest right wingers on the Leaf teams in the sixties and seventies. He contributed to the Stanley Cup that the Leafs won the early sixties, culminating in their last win in 1967, just before expansion in the fall of that year. He was a true star who worked under the shadows of Frank Mahovlich and Dave Keon. RIP, Ron.

Wow. Ellis just put his down skated up and down that wing, worked hard and kept his mouth shut. Never complained. He's still high up on some "all-time" lists for Leafs.

A perennial 20 goal scorer when 20 goals in a year was a respectable total. After retirement, he was one of the first pro athletes to publicly discuss his struggle with depression. Runner up for the calder trophy in his rookie year. RIP.
