So later in August this immigrant girl I'm dating has a week off work. I am thinking of throwing a couple of vacation days against the end of a weekend and perhaps taking her away somewhere. Only problem is that her visa status in Canada means that we would not be able to cross the border.

So where would be a nice destination for 4-5 days in August for two?

Preferably flying. To pull this off I really shouldn't stay within driving distance of Toronto, that's too risky.
why not ask your pretend wife?

Somewhere in France
Westin Trillium House at Blue Mountain / Collingwood is a very nice place - 4 star, beautiful pool, very nice rooms, good service. A scenic two 1/2 hour drive through the country to get there. Good restaurants in the village. Interesting towns and villages around. Outdoor stuff life golf, Bruce Trail hiking, caves, beaches nearby at Wasaga, etc.
A nice little bit of near-Toronto exploration with high-end accomodations for someone unfamiliar with the province.

Lake Louise and Moraine lake nearby is amazingly beautiful and it automatically creates the romantic atmosphere. Don't stay in hotel, stay in the lake side lodges and you'll forget the rest of the world including your wife.
Great suggestion.
Another similar destination is Jasper.

Damn. All booked up the week that she has available, but that was a great idea. I did try and book!

If the concept of "what goes around comes around" really exists, you're wife will be banging Lexington Steele while
you're away cheating on her. She'll be moaning and loving every minute of it too.:p
If life were "fair" that might happen, but life's not really fair. What goes around doesn't usually come around.

I've got more vacation time at work than she does (more seniority) and we already have trips planned for all the vacation time she has available.
sure. so take two days vacation and two days of a weekend (she works weekends?) out of town without her. that seems a likely scenario on top of your going out on saturday nights without her.

We do spend all her vacation together, we travel together overseas every chance we get, and we do spend weekends away sometimes--we spent this long weekend together in Muskoka for example.

I still have more vacation to use.

F#@$ off fuji.. I am really pissed and jealous of you now. You are always busy hunting chicks, vacationing and on Terb all the time. Do you really work? Or you're just living off your wife like one lucky friend of mine did?

I spend 10 hours a day in the office out of which I work probably 5. I have enough seniority in my job now that I have 5 weeks vacation, 6 if I can leverage "personal days" (they get burned if I get sick though). My wife only has 3 weeks, so I have an extra 2-3 weeks leave every year over hers.

Romantic and beautiful?

Tofino, without doubt... but I don't know if you have enough time!

But you may have enough time for Victoria.

If anyone wonders how this turned out, we are holed up at the chateau frontenac in quebec city. I liked the idea of lake louise but it was basically booked up.

A plus with Quebec city is that flying porter is part of the experience, I love the island airport whereas pearson is an obstacle on the way.
