They both really suck tbh. I went with Telus for cell phone when my Rogers contract was up and they gave me a great deal as long as I took Home Security, which I'm like ok I was meaning to do that anyway. Fast forward three months and they've jacked my cell phone service $20 per month. Rogues.

We Canadians really take it up the ass from the telecom oligarchy.

They way they put the TV packages together is a fleece job...I'll want one channel and have to buy the package of 9...I'm Bell satellite and pay way too much, I'm looking for a better deal.

The reason our telecom fees seem high is because we have a huge land mass and small population. Thus the cost to service each customer is fairly high.

I have Bell Fibe for my cable and home internet. At the very least its reliable, more so than Rogers. But still pricy - I think I apay about $167 per month. Gotta drop the Crave package though $9.99 for dogshit.

I wouldn't call 39 million a small population. I'm pretty sure that ranks in the top 50 countries on the planet.
Most of Canada's land mass is uninhabitable - its forest or water or boreal region.

Canada's population is basically almost all east - west, which I think is a 4,000 mile coridor

Since someone mentioned Australia, their population is concentrated along their eastern coastline.

While their their land mass is large, much of it is uninhabited (similar to Canada).

The nationwide network outage of Rogers in 2022 was really a huge frustration. Since then, I switched to Bell for home internet and Telus for cellphone and swore not to use Rogers ever again.

I think the Rogers cable connections are always 'live' now, (meaning they are able to receive service), but the cable stream requires a phone or Internet modem or a descrambling box for TV. In the past, Rogers used to send a technician to cut the ends of the coaxial cable, if service was disconnected at a residence.

Anybody who wants a pair of fresh AA batteries can just bring a Rogers TV remote control to a Rogers store, and exchange it for a brand new one with new batteries, even if the old remote works properly. I don't think the stores even check to confirm if you have Rogers cable. Former Rogers customers could get free batteries from Rogers for like, forever, just by keeping the remote.

You can call Bell and haggle with them. Ask to speak to the customer retention people. Call the week that your plan rolls over.

The last time I phoned a Bell service rep to complain, he put me on hold to check about my complaint, as I waited on the phone I could hear chickens in the background. Figured he had his tv on watching some kind of show. When he returned to the phone he said my problem was addressed. I asked him where his location was, he said The Philippines and the chickens were in his backyard. LOL.

I have Rogers as my home internet and Telus as my cell since i got a really good deal. But it's true that all the providers are overpriced. But I do feel that Rogers is in the news a lot more often nowadays compared to the rest.

At one point I was Rogers dedicate as in phone, cable and internet. That was about 4 or 5 years ago, and I was paying a bit over $300.

I switched to Fido for my phone and my condo corp got us a group plan for our cable and internet including Crave.

I'm paying about $120 all in now.

Canada has the highest telecom prices in the entire world.

I found out pricing is a total scam. I had tv, internet and phone from Cogeco, and the last 3 years the cost went from $120 to $240. When I called to cancel TV, a sweet young lady said I could pay $128 instead of $240 for the same service. I cancelled TV anyway.
Then I said that phone is too costly at $70, and she gave me same service for $19.

What a scam.
