Fuck Roger Waters, he's a crashing bore without David Gilmour. Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd) is an incredible musician, he used to busker at The Rex.

He has a new series on HBO with Lilly Rose Depp.

Drake is the biggest artist in the world for almost a decade, but let Terb tell it he's a nobody. 😄
Will Terb still be around in 100 years. Will anyone care about any of this? I don't really care much right now, just saying...

Terb has been around for almost a quarter century so who knows. I think people will care just from the strength of it being Pop Culture.

Just look at Mozart. His music will live forever. So you never know.

Even thought he's behaved like a meathead, Johnny still has the unreserved love of his kids.

Or JS Bach, his music is pushing 300 years yet still sound like it could have been written today.

Not sure why they made a bubble gum remake of Rollerball?

I LOVE Pink Floyd.

And while David Gilmour is the sound of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters is the brains, the drive and the heart and soul of Pink Floyd. There is simply no disputing that. And when Roger Waters correctly says he is more important than the Weekend or Drake, he doesn't mean he's better musically, he means politically with respect to the music he makes and the meaning behind his art. His music means something. And I have to agree. Drake and the Weekend are pop stars that put out forgettable drivel. Roger puts out thought provoking music with meaning that speaks to the politics of our time.

My one criticism of Roger Waters is that he has a blind spot for leftist politicians, including Vladimir Putin. I saw both of Roger's concerts (This is not a Drill) at the BNS Center last week. Of the 3 Waters concerts I have seen over the years, ("The Wall" , "US and Them" and now, "This is not a Drill"), it was the weakest. I had a hard time listening to Roger Waters state that the United States has caused the war in Ukraine and that the West needs to "stop poking the Russian Bear" because its going to lead to a nuclear war. But I know Roger's history and I understand why he says things like that. I just don't agree with him.

Hard to imagine Drake ever taking a position like that. Not given Drake's music or Drake's social conscience. That's why Roger said what he said.
Many will dispute that as the co-founder of Pink Floyd and top song writer was Syd Barrett. Unfortunately, I don't know if he took a bad acid or developed schizofrenia but he had to leave.

Anyone who grew up on Floyd like me would agree in theory. In practice however it's a dumb thing for Waters to say. Music is subjective and it always changes with the times; this just makes Roger seem like a cranky old man.
However he is known for his public outbursts. Guess there's a reason why the other guys in Floyd were happy to dump him.

Waters may be an insufferable egotistical dick at times but he does have a point. You don't get the career longevity and success that he has without primarily belief in yourself.
Quite simply people are still gonna be singing 'We don't need no education' long after Duck and Wee Kenny D have lapsed into obscurity.

I won't be singing it. It's a fucking dirge. Musically on the same level as "I can't get no satisfaction." Earwormed into my consciousness involuntarily.

Have to disagree.

People will still be singing "U Can't Touch This" hundreds of years from now. Already 32 years later and still going strong with 722 million views. Back when it was new, people said it would be forgotten.

There's a market for everything, not just self-proclaimed "important" music. Themes of love and fun are among the top because they're timeless.
