Risky Business

I'm a nubie - that has yet to take up the hobby. One of the main reservations I have had is the risk of catching something more serious than a cold. I haven't seen any threads on this topic but I'm interested in peoples experience in that regard.

Also, what folks think about various services and their associated risks.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but I'll bet lots of other lurkers out there have similar concerns/questions.

You haven't seen threads on the topic because its such a minor issue especially since most providers use condoms.

There are STD's that should be a concern but most of the risk is on the provider not the customer. That is why some provider won't allow DATY, finguring or oral without a cover. They are simply being prudent to protect their health.

Everyone in the hobby should have the Hep B vaccine 3 shot serince Hep can be bad by the time you know you have it and is easily transferred.

HIV of course is virtually a non-issue since the risks are so low unless your in a high risk group which sexworkers and most clients are not in. Sexworkers and Swingers have probably far less HIV risk than most groups.

Yes we all have concerns about STDs that are a risk, but the risks are easily mitigated by safe sex practices.

That is why you don't read much about it on these boards.

Most of what Dave says is pretty straightforward except for the fact that lots has been written here about the risk of STD's, just not every day or even week. Try a search using the word "disease" and I'm sure you'll have enough to read for hours and hours.

There are risks. There are risks associated with crossing the street. You have to determine how much risk is acceptable to you and take appropriate action.

For me, using a condom and indulging only with what I call the "call-girl" class of SP (i.e., girls in the $200+ price range, drug-free, educated, blah, blah, blah, as opposed to "streetwalkers" or others who are obviously broke and desperate (price < $100)) makes the risk acceptable.

Don`t share your needles with a girl who does BBFS.

And by the way...

...I'll just point out there are girls in the biz with any combination of restrictions you might care to name and that TERB is an excellent place to find out about them. If, after reviewing all the available material, you decide that you want DFK and CBJ ... there are lots of girls who have that restriction as well. So not only will you not have the risk of BBBJ yourself, you can feel (somewhat!) more assured that she hasn't taken that risk either (or, at least, that she doesn't take that risk regularly), which may ease your mind about the DFK.

The loudest voices on this board are the ones pushing for BBBJ, who slightly edge the ones pushing for Greek. This can lead to a faulty perception - there are lots of guys (perhaps yourself included) for whom BBBJ is a negative.

Also, assuming you live in Toronto, always remember the Hassle Free Clinic. Pick up their literature so you'll know the symptoms and go in for regular checkups (depending on how often you indulge). If you do catch something, having it treated quickly is a great thing.

Nubie-I worry about the cold Virus--bacteria very much indeed.Have caught some beauties.Besides this problem,your biggest problem ,will be Fungy.From Atheletesfoot,to Vaginal Fungy---which comes in different forms.

Rule #1 Look -Look if not 100% clean --LEAVE--Vamoose
Rule #2Carry your own Condoms.You know which size and Brand fits and feels good to you.Wearing someone elses brand of Condoms is like letting a stranger choose your socks.
Rule #3 never have sex,where you have no excess to a shower or at least a basin. You must wash after,your hands genitalia face etc.Even ,if only out of respect for the poeple you are coming in contact with after..but also for yourself.
Rule#3 Carry a good brand Fungy cream--apply to the area around the Mouth-Nose etc.(it stings-watch the eyes please)
It is invisible,and only smells a little.
Rule#4 if in doubt---then why the hell would you want to commit this act.
Rule #5 Any,and i mean any pressure used on you,in the form of promisses for better performance or pleas for more money -time etc, are reason to break contact--But be fair--Your friendly S.P. could be stuck in traffic--Or have a case of the monthly curse..

Rule #6 Frequent only the better contacts--if you are looking for the bizarre,you are on your own.
