He has passed at 90 from a stroke, he wa best known as Dr. Kildare and for the mini series Shogun.
I remember Dr. Kildare. I forget the character's name but his older doctor mentor was played by Canadian, Raymond Massey.

Chamberlain was a heartthrob.

RIP. Had a great career. I remember him from Dr. Kildare. Which is a Long time ago. Became king of the miniseries. Seemed like a good guy. Heart throb from the fifties, gay notwithstanding.

Chamberlain was fantastic in Shogun, The Thorn Birds, The Count Of Monte Cristo, The Man In The Iron Mask.

Another that stands out for the wrong reasons was Allan Quartermain and the Lost City on Gold. A Indiana Jones clone that was terrible. Sharon Stone was in it as well. Two big stars and it still stunk.

He was also gay
Yesterday, I saw a clip of an interview he did a while ago in which he spoke about that. It took a very long time for him to feel comfortable coming out of the closet. He said in the 50's, 60's, and 70's it wasn't even possible to consider it.

He did a guest appearance on Will and Grace years ago and absolutely nailed it. He was hilarious. Ironically, the character he played was not gay.
RIP.
