I read in the Sun today from one of the Hart brothers that he thought Benoit was noticibly fucked up when he saw him last. He also said Benoit could have gotton some bad news about his own health.

Hart also said that 40 years of age is when steroids can start to do interior damage, kidney's etc. He went on to say that if he noticed the fucked up behavior, the WWE should have, I'm only stating what I read.

Benoit e-mails tell of friendship, spiritual guidance

By GREG OLIVER
Special to the Journal-Constitution

Published on: 06/29/07

Greg Oliver is a freelancer writer from Toronto who knew and wrote about fellow Canadian Chris Benoit, the professional wrestler who allegedly killed his wife, Nancy, 7-year-old son, Daniel, and himself last weekend inside their Fayette County home. Oliver has written three books about professional wrestling, produces the "SLAM! Wrestling" Web site and has published articles in newspapers in Canada. Oliver had an occasional e-mail correspondence with Benoit, and shared some of that with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I first interviewed Chris Benoit in 1997. We'd done a few other interviews here and there, and seen each other at various wrestling events. In November 2005, WWE star Eddie Guerrero died unexpectedly of natural causes related to heart disease. Guerrero was Benoit's best friend, and I sent a note to Chris offering my condolences. Here is his response:

"Hi Greg, thank you for your e-mail. I know that he has left us but I still feel like I'm going to see him on the road next week. I do not know if I will ever have as good a friend as I did in Eddie. I was able to talk to him about anything in my life, and he was always able to make sense of things or change my perspective.

"He was somewhat of a spiritual guide for me. I do not know if you read the Bible at all, or what your beliefs are, and I will respect you for whatever your beliefs are. But if you ever get the opportunity to read about Job, it reminds me so much of Eddie. He at one point after coming out of rehab had nothing but the clothes on his back. He had physically, mentally emotionally and monetarily hit rock bottom. He lost his family, his wife and children had left. But he never lost his faith and through it was able to overcome the odds.

"Instead of Eddie becoming bitter, Eddie became better. In our business it is really difficult to understand why we do what we do and why we think what we think unless you are in it, unless you have a passion for it, it is so demanding physically, mentally and emotionally in every possible way, but when you love it as did Eddie, as do myself, you have a better understanding of why we do what we do.

"I do not believe that I will ever find someone that I will bond with and be able to understand and be understood as I was with Eddie. I'm not looking forward to going back on the road, not that I ever did, I hate the road, but I looked forward to Eddie's company and camaraderie. Both of us hated the road, being away from our families, but both of us lived for that in ring bell to bell time.

"My wife Nancy bought me a diary and I have started to write letters to Eddie, it may sound crazy but that is how I'm coping. I'm sorry if some of this e-mail does not make any sense either but it helps me cope. Thank you, Greg."

Unbelievable

This is playing out like a bad soap opera.

So far as I see it -

Benoit = Juice Monkey
WWE = Cover up and cash grab
wife and son = tragic victims

This brings me back to a story of a bodybuilder a few years back -Andreas Munzer. He had the same juiced out look about him that Benit had and there was a story that before Munzers death he was busted at an airport with a duffle bag of HGH, anabolics, pain killers, anti depressants and some more exotic drugs like EPO....and he claimed that these drugs were for personal use.
Paxil, Prozac or any other meds can cause reactions but mixing it all in a cocktail -wow. I'd be curious to see that laundry list of pharmaceuticals they find in Benoit's house.

I am most interested in the blood work to see what he was taking. It would excuse what CB did but it would explain it.

Unfortunately, if it was a really mixed up cocktail, he may not have known what he was doing. For all he knew he was wrestling Cena in his mind... his reality might really have been altered. This is truly tragic and if this is the case I think the doctor should be charged with negligent homicide.

My 2 cents

Did he know what he was doing when he starting taking the drugs... he should have.... he has no excuses..... sure others may have been negligent..

Yes he knew he was taking the drugs.... but I am not a physician and if I was prescribed all the meds... I would not know what the cocktail would do...

The point I was making was they were prescribed by a doctor... this professional was aware of the drugs that Benoit was taking, HE would be aware of the chemical interactions.... or at least one would hope.

Im not excusing Benoit, simply stating he may not have been in control of his faculties at that moment.

A doctor can only know about the drugs the patient tells him he's taking. Is it wrong to prescribe testosterone, either in pills form, patch or injectibles? Well, maybe not. If he has legitimate low testosterone levels then ok.(This caused by previous abuse of steroids of course). But if he's getting the rest of his anabolics from let's say.....Mexico (where it's available ovet the counter) then he doesn't tell his MD -he's fucked. Plus matters are complicated by the fact that the MD and the end user are friends -maybe he was making a buck off him or maybe he was legitimately trying to hook him up -I don't know.

The funny thing is -within the bodybuilding / strength training community, you'd be surprised how many self professed juicers / "experts" there are. These are guys who will swear that this and that are good, they're compatible and it'll make the users either big or strong. The problem with a lot of these guys are, they're also the peddlers of a lot of this stuff.

In the end -the patient is in charge of his own care. Period. If the doctor is to blame as well -it would be impossible to prove that. But the fact that Benoit killed his family - this may be provable in court.

I feel sorry for the family left behind, like CB's dad - the poor guy is looking for closure and is having a hard time coming to grips that his son (if proven -ok,ok, I'm giving the Juice Monkey the benefit of the doubt) is a double murdering, drugged out, juice pig.

Benoit's Doc Has History of Shady Practices

TMZ has learned that the personal physician who saw Chris Benoit just hours before the wrestler killed his wife and son once had his medical license suspended for "reasons related to competence or character."

In 2001, the Georgia state medical board suspended Phil C. Astin, M.D.'s license to practice medicine for three months and fined him $500.

Early Thursday morning, authorities raided Dr. Astin's office in connection with Benoit investigation. Officials claim they seized medical records, but no arrests were made. According to the AP, Astin has admitted to prescribing testosterone to Benoit in the past, but has not commented on what, if anything, he prescribed to the wrestler on Friday.

Ironically, Dr. Astin's father had also run into trouble with the state medical board. According to records from the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners, Phil Carroll Astin Sr. was found guilty of engaging in "unprofessional conduct" in 1992 by over-prescribing a plethora of pills including amphetamines, antidepressants, tranquilizers and narcotics to various patients.

As a result, the medical board suspended the father's license for 30 days, put him on 5 years probation and fined him $2000. Astin Sr. was reinstated in 1997, following the completion of his sentence.

Astin's offices were located in Carrollton, Georgia -- a small college town about 50 miles from Benoit's home.

Calls to Dr. Astin Jr. were not immediately returned.

Wtf? Hulk Hogan said that Nancy Benoit was into devil worshipping

Hulk Hogan talks to US About the Killer Wrestler
Tuesday July 3, 2007

Wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan was shocked when the WWE’s Chris Benoit, 40, murdered his wife, Nancy, and son, Daniel, 7, then committed suicide the weekend of June 23.

“He was peaceful and kept to himself,” he tells Us.

Hogan, who last saw Benoit in March, says he wonders what pushed the wrestler over the edge. "I think it had to be something personal, a domestic problem between him and his wife."

And Hogan tells US the wrestler’s wife (and WWE costar) had a dark side.

“She was into devil-worship stuff. It was part of her [wrestling] character, but [she was] somebody who gets so close to their character, someone who gets into their character too much. Sometimes these people believe their own publicity.”
WTF doesn't he know wrestling is a work?
