Anyone remember those guys who used to push the red carts around, selling hot nuts, popcorn ,candy apples, pinwheels etc? Always liked the smell of the little fires

There's still a few of those around. Not very many, but you'll see them here and there. I was watching a youtube video of a guy near the skydome/CN Tower at night last year and there were a few. I remember the Italians guys the most, and they sold this thing they would put in their mouth that would make these bird chirping noises. It was like this little paper thing. Pretty sure someone mentioned these earlier on in the thread with some pics.

There is still one in Mississauga on Dundas and Erindale Station Rd....still the original place no changes complete with pics of him on the wall.

I went to Erindale and went there fairly often

There is one in Markham near where I work. I went there about a month ago. The fries changed to a type of fries I hate...lol.

I loved those red carts. Once a year at a church in my area growing up, there some kind of Italian festival. All these Italian guys would come with those red carts that sold caramel apples, candy apples, cotton candy chestnuts, some type of spiraled red candy that was made with the same stuff as the candy apple, and they had few novelty type items they sold. One was this bird whistling thing you put on your tongue. I bought it one year but just couldn't make the whistle noise like the old Italian guys...lol.

I don't know how to post pics, but here's a few pics:

A bunch of them got their start there notably Dina Pugliese (annoying).

I just found out a few days ago that Sarika Seghal who worked at Toronto 1,CHCH, CBC, etc passed away a couple years ago…..

I'm a bit late on this, but I can't say I really remember her for some reason. Anyway, from what I could tell, it looks like it was suicide. :(

There is a series of video on youtube called "Old Toronto" and sometimes I watch a few to take me back to my youth. It's great to watch these videos because I remember a lot of the content, but then it makes me sad because, frankly, this city was a better city back then. I moved here in the mid 90's and it's changed so much, it's barely recognizable in a lot of ways. And not for the better. (Probably just a part of getting older, who knows.)

Very interesting. I was wondering if Chorley Park would be in this video.

Indeed it is.
