Sadly, if every single Canadian picked up a gun, it still won't defend against a US invasion. The only credible deterrent would be nukes.

Not sure Guerilla warfare will work today as the US army is very experienced in tackling insurgency.

I think the better option is to increase size of the military and build a nuke in secret.
Some of these gun nuts are not mentally fit to defend themselves let alone anything else.
If Canada increases the military to the size it would need to be to deter an invasion by USA,, it would have to close down it's health care and other social programs, such that it would be like USA.
We lose both ways.
