When crimes increase and police start quitting and can’t do their job properly anymore because nobody will listen to them just blame the covid and economy. Meanwhile the cousin is spreading conspiracy theories and smear campaigns that Canadian police are wilfully killing Black people by throwing them from balconies, citing other examples of Blacks falling or jumping from balconies during emergency police calls.

I was "detained" by police twice. Both times as a witness. One time I saw a man punch a woman in the face in a store. The second time I was on a TTC bus involved in an accident. I think, but I'm not sure, I think I could have walked away in both cases but I wanted to do my civic duty so I stayed.

I doubt many people actually thought the cops threw her off the balcony. The concerns were how the police handled the situation leading up to it. Knowing it was a mental health call, the police easily could have limited her options but they seem to be poorly trained with mental health calls. It doesn't amount to criminal charges but hopefully the police will discuss the choices involved in this case and will talk about what they could do better if in a similar situation.

Apparently this is not over. The office of the independent police review director is now investigating the Toronto police service according to the family lawyer for the girl who died.

The family now claiming the police stole her cellphone which, apparently, has video on it. The family said they want the cellphone back. Police said we never had the cellphone so we can't return something we never had.
