Kelvin for temperatureI'd read a CBC article on this yesterday. It was quite fascinating learning about the issues involved in maintenance, security, preservation and history.
There are 7 basic units of measure, 1)kg for mass 2)second for time, 3)metre for distance, 4)kelvin for heat 5) ampere for electricity 6) candela for light intensity and I forget 7. Maybe it is joules for energy.
The kilo was the only one that had yet to be digitized.
Since when did Americans use the KG?The Americans are the only ones that use it, why should everybody else change? The Americans should get rid of the archaic imperial system
I think he was referring to the great suggestion of everyone using a pound in post #3.Since when did Americans use the KG?
Easier to use based on assumption you remember all the prefixes which many do notThe pound really doesn’t make much sense. Metric is infinitely more logical and easier to use, for us it may seem clunky sometimes because we’re used to using feet, pounds, etc., even though we’re officially on the metric system, but it really is superior.
It deals in 10s and 100s and has a logical progression to the measurements. 10mm = 1cm, 10cm = 1dm, 10 dm = 1m. It just makes sense. If you look at imperial, the measurements are all over the place. Ozs to lbs, lbs to tons, there’s no consistency. It wouldn’t make sense to use imperial in any scientific capacity, because accuracy would be a nightmare.
