Directly above the center of the earth
And a second pole which contains the flash. There's more camera mounts than cameras so they move them from intersection to intersection on a regular basis. You never know which one has a camera in it.

... there's no reason to run a red. Considering the majority of accidents happen at intersections, it's a dangerous thing to do. I say good if you get caught. Maybe you'll pay more attention next time.
That's a little harsh. If you get nailed for running a red, just plead not guilty and tell the judge you didn't see the red because you were too busy replying to the text message your friend sent you about their latest shopping trip. So it wasn't really your fault. The judge will understand.

Or just tell the JP you have a perfectly good reason for running the red, you were drunk.

Cross-examine the officer. Then you'll see what the Crown is made of. They will go hiding :)
There isn't an officer, you can only cross-examine the camera and they have to stay on their post so they won't show up.
You have only the judge to deal with and it's not a good idea to interrogate them.

That's not what I did when I got mine. As long as you give the courts a good reason for the officer to show up, the Crown will bring him/her.
In the 2nd hearing, the officer showed up and the Crown quickly decided to not call the officer to the stand.

If they still don't budge, cross-examine the photographs. The Crown will lose every argument in your examination of the photographs because
they elected to not bring the officer.

Case done.

Do all red lights have cameras. I am constantly going through them.
There are signs telling you whether it's a red light camera one or not...
Very few have Camera's.
I've seen some intersections with "Red Light Camera" signs but no actual camera mount and flash to be found. Likely just a deterrent.
Many municipalities that employ Red Light Cameras list the intersections where they can be found.

Examples:

Ottawa http://ottawa.ca/en/residents/transportation-and-parking/road-safety/red-light-cameras#intersections

Do all red lights have cameras. I am constantly going through them. Sometimes you can't help it if your car is situated in the mididle of the road about to turn and it was yellow when you started.
In the Burlington area I've noticed the red light camera intersections are marked with a sign just before the intersection. Are they all like that in other cities too?
