Completed my trial today and I pleaded "Guilty" with a submission of plea and was able to delay the $325 fine payment another 3 months.

I asked the JOP for leniency being my first infraction and considering my financial status in reducing the fine but he concluded that I made too much money to issue a reduction in fine amount.

At least it's over with and no deduction in demerit points.

If my car is close behind another car going thru the red light will the camera still give me a ticket or not see my license plate?

a buddy of mine actually didnt go thru a redlight......but he did cross the line when it turned red...he stopped and backed up...but it still got him....he didnt receive the fine notice until a few months later( he moved)...and couldnt fight it...time had lapsed for him to fight it...so he was summarily judged guilty...$325.00 fine.
he bitched and bitched and bitched...for months that he never GOT the notice in time to plead his case...their answer...
too bad so sad...
he paid it....

If the vehicle ahead of you is going through a red light, I'd guess you would have had plenty of 'yellow light warning' to stop prior to the light turning red.

does it make any difference if its a left turn. I think i was on or just past the line. I read a cop looks at every camera infraction before a ticket is issued. Hopefully they just choose the worst violators to send tickets to.

Do all red lights have cameras. I am constantly going through them. Sometimes you can't help it if your car is situated in the mididle of the road about to turn and it was yellow when you started.

Very few have Camera's.

If you are sat in the middle of the intersection when the light goes Red, you are fine. It only gets you if you enter the intersection after the light goes Red.

There are signs telling you whether it's a red light camera one or not...

Happ, I was going south on Islington or Kipling and made a quick left turn on a red at the Westway. I made a tight turn. I did NOT see the RLC flash. I must have stayed inside the 'guilty area'. Never got a ticket. Whew!

You can actually see them too. There's a pole further down from the intersection with a box containing the camera perched on top.

I've seen some intersections with "Red Light Camera" signs but no actual camera mount and flash to be found. Likely just a deterrent.

You can actually see them too. There's a pole further down from the intersection with a box containing the camera perched on top.
And a second pole which contains the flash. There's more camera mounts than cameras so they move them from intersection to intersection on a regular basis. You never know which one has a camera in it.

With that said, there's no reason to run a red. Considering the majority of accidents happen at intersections, it's a dangerous thing to do. I say good if you get caught. Maybe you'll pay more attention next time.

Can the camera(s) in an intersection catch all the offending cars going in all directions north south east & west? I only noticed a warning sign an camera near one corner of the intersection.

At night, it's blindingly obvious when one has gone off. I've only seen it once. I remember because I was worried about how late I was going through, then was amazed when the guy behind me went through almost two seconds later! He got nailed. Quite the flash.

If you look closely you will see the loops (cut into the pavement) at the stop bar, and then in the intersection that trigger the red light camera. I've only notched them in the right two most lanes.

There's already a lot going on in the left turn lane, with the sensors to trigger the arrow or advanced green I doubt you would get a ticket turning left.

There MAY of course be cameras aimed at left turn lanes with time restrictions......but I have yet to notice them.

Sorry to say this, but there is no good reason I can think of to enter any intersection, if you cannot clear it. If you had to stop and block the crossways lane because the car in front stopped, then you were following too close. The yellow light—which means Stop! unless doing so is unsafe—just makes it worse.

The Toronto Left Turn—signal and park in the middle, go on the yellow—is encouraged by our traffic lights doing a four-way red for a few seconds, but it isn't legal, and you'd have to convince the JP that's what you were doing, and that she should ignore the law and let you off. All you need is an oncoming bozo who turns without signalling and you're stuck, dead or talking to your insurance.

Fortunately, not all traffic light intersections have cameras, and they put up signs to warn folks when cameras are installed, because what they, and we want is better driving, not a bigger haul. But keep alert, they move the cameras around.
