Aldridge would be a good choice. You can never have too many bigs. Bosh, Villaneuva and Aldridge are all natural PFs at the pro level, but together, they'd be formidable, and the Raps would be able to always have at least two of them on the court at all times

Any chance in using that pick to get Jamal Magloire in some sort of a trade? Let's say Mike James and the top pick? For JM and a lower pick in the draft say a Dee Brown?

I dont want Jamal Magloire he is a loser who is far too inconsistent to justify that sort of value...

Choron..... why the hate for our homeboy Jamal Magloire??? I agree that he has been way too inconsistent...

I would like to see Aldridge be the Raps pick, but he is still not a centre and lacks the toughness that the Raps need inside... But a front line of Aldridge, CB, and Villaneuva can be pretty scary if used correctly...

Of course the Italian National Bagniani would be a popular move with the large Italian population in TO.... then again, it's a World Cup year, so the Italians will probably not notice..:)

We'd have to give up our #1 pick for each of the next five years for the Suns to even consider that.

I *heart* Amare... and the Suns don't have Rob Babcock working for them so its not going to happen... MAn I really really hope to God we get the #1 pick next year with Oden coming in, the dude is the next shaq or yao...Take your pick...

It's nice to get the first pick in the draft, but no draft pick is a sure thing. Kwame Brown went first overall, Chicago drafted Chandler and Eddy Curry 1 and 2 and neither are a superstar.

Vince went 7th overall and although things didn't work out in T.O., he is still an all-star.

I'd rather see them make the playoffs. The raps really need some vets to compliment the youth, to teach them how to win. Without Sam Cassell this year, the Clippers would have just been... the Clippers! But with someone who has been a winner before, they matured quite nicely.

So when a guy like Yao or Shaq comes into the league they still contribute 20-10 per game starting immediatly... Also additional points per game + rebounding + blocking + low post presence aside from bosh is what toronto is looking for anyway...

As for Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler...They were not drafted 1 and 2...Where have you been for the last few years?

Please see this link for information on all past first round picks...

i'm interested in hearing what kind of offers rapts will receive for their #1 pick. That would be more interesting to me than anything else.

Except for the fear of a euro draft pick, I would like to see Bargnani in a raps uniform. With him, Bosh, and Charlie the raps would pose all sorts of problems for teams on the offensive end with all three having some sort of perimeter skill. The wouldn't have the bulk to defend a real big man.

Aldridge would be similar. A little less ability off the dribble from the outside but a great shot blocker.

I don't like that they got ride of high school players, we officially got fucked out of the rights to draft Greg Oden this year because of that...

The only way I couldsee the Raptors having a realistic shot at getting Greg Oden would be to deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. They might flip first round picks this year, sweeten the pot a bit, in exchange for the option to flip first rounders next year. Then they cross their fingers. Unfortunately, no GM in the league is stupid or desperate enough to do something like that, except possibly Isiah Thomas, but he doesn't have a decent #1 pick for next year, thanks to the deal he made with the Bulls for Eddie Curry.

Dude most GM's wouldn't consider themselves a possibilty for Oden because they cannot win the lottery( lets just say no team really thinks they are going to have the rights to him)

I hated the deal that prevented the Raps or the Grizzlies from getting the 1st overall pick for 5 years??

I liked the idea of not allowing high school players to enter the draft, but it will screw up the college game a bit.

Latest rumour of many more to come, no doubt, is that The Raps will swap their pick with Portland's (#4) with the Raps also acquiring one of the JailBlazer's young pointguards (Sebastian Telfair, Steve Blake, and Bosh's former teammate at Georgia, Jarret Jack). Then they'd take Bargiani at number 4 because the Bulls and Blazers are more interested in Tyrus Thomas and LaMarcus Alridge, while Charlotte is supposedly big on Adam Morrison.

This is actually the second time the Raptors have won the draft lottery.

They won in 1996, but one of the conditions of their expansion franchise was that they couldn't have the #1 overall pick during their first three years. Philadelphia picked first and took Allen Iverson. The Raptors picked second, and selected Marcus Camby.

The other owners insisted on this clause because the Orlando Magic had had the #1 pick in two consecutive drafts, (1992 Shaquille O'Neill; 1993 Chris Webber), and played in the NBA finals in 1995. They didn't want a Canadian team to do the same.

The Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies also only had the 7th and eighth picks in their first draft, 1995. In the most recent expansion, (2004), the Charlotte Bobcats were given the #2 pick.
"They didn't want a Canadian team to do the same."

...you people are insecure and paranoid.

Believe it or not, thinking about Canadians and what they do or don't want (or what they will or will not accomplish) is very, very low on the radar screen for most Americans.

The owners didn't want the new expansion teams to have the first pick because they are selfish greedy fucks who COULD put such a requirement in place. It didn't have shit to do with the Raptors and Grizz being Canadian teams...

Doesn't being so damn insecure just wear on your collective psyche as a country after awhile?? I mean, don't you think it has become a inhibition to accomplishing anything anywhere?

"Why try to suceed at ______ ? The Americans will cheat and keep us from winning anyway"

It is also pretty damn arrogant to think you are that important as well....

i agree with bosh as this is what i've said all along, raps need more of a big C who can rebound, play defense. If they can get Tefair thru portland, that would be pretty exciting, though i would be kinda shocked to see portland give him up and hes still got lots of development to go. I'm still more for bringing in a big C and a solid pass first PG whos been in the league for a few years. i dont even want james on our team anymore for any kind of $.

I hear Ilgauskas is on the block, should raps go after him?
