Good news. Now they will need to decide if they are going to select Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge, Adam Morrison or Andrea Bargnani. Too bad Greg Oden and Joakim Noah are not available. Good luck to the Raports management ;)

Wow, I can't believe this and we've already got such a strong young core. Things are looking up in raptorland

If you can get a solid veteran starter (less then 28) and a top 10 pick, you make the trade IMO.

What spot did Chicago get? or Milwaukee? Minnesota?

Apparently Babcock may be GM there soon in Minnesota. Could be easy to rip him off for a superstar.

Babcock in Minnesota??? We'll take Garnett and give him Araujo and some draft picks.
Araujo, a 3rd and 4th round pick for Garnett should seem fair to Babcock...
(I am pretty sure that there are still only two rounds in the NBA draft...

Good things are already happening for young Mr. Colangelo..

I would not trade the pick unless I can get a starting PG or C... I think that last year, they touted Mike James as a PG, but we know that he is not...

Here's the result of the lottery
1. Toronto Raptors
2. New York Knicks (to Chicago Bulls)
3. Charlotte Bobcats
4. Portland Trail Blazers
5. Atlanta Hawks
6. Minnesota Timberwolves
7. Boston Celtics
8. Houston Rockets
9. Golden State Warriors
10. Seattle SuperSonics
11. Orlando Magic
12. NO/Okla. City Hornets
13. Philadelphia 76ers
14. Utah Jazz

1st overall pick = worth a superstar...

Too bad there aren't any Lebrons, Shaqs, Kobes etc... in this draft eh :(

In fact this years draft crop lacks all superstars...This is the first year that college is now required in order to play in the nba(high school athletes are no longer a draft option)

None the less, good for us... We can do something with this for sure...

This is actually the second time the Raptors have won the draft lottery.

They won in 1996, but one of the conditions of their expansion franchise was that they couldn't have the #1 overall pick during their first three years. Philadelphia picked first and took Allen Iverson. The Raptors picked second, and selected Marcus Camby.

The other owners insisted on this clause because the Orlando Magic had had the #1 pick in two consecutive drafts, (1992 Shaquille O'Neill; 1993 Chris Webber), and played in the NBA finals in 1995. They didn't want a Canadian team to do the same.

The Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies also only had the 7th and eighth picks in their first draft, 1995. In the most recent expansion, (2004), the Charlotte Bobcats were given the #2 pick.

I See Greg Oden a 7 foot center is going to be available in the 07 draft and is slated to go #1 overall 100%...The raptors should look to trade this pick perhaps to Charlotte Bobcats or Portland Trailblazers in exchange for next years pick and something else...I would love nothing more than if we could select a lebron james franchise type player...

Oden looks to be the future of centers in the NBA...

Unfortunately, the Bulls already have the option to switch first round picks with the Knicks next year. The Knicks do have two #1s this year, but I don't think they'll get much immediate help with #20 & #29, and they're so far over the cap that they only have the mid level exemption for free agents.

Charlotte is a lot better than their record this year would indicate. Most of their best players were injured for significant portions of the season, they have a ton of cap room, and a lot of good young talent at inexpensive salaries.

I expect Adam Morrison to do a lot of crying in Portland next season.

Nobody much cares about the Hawks in Atlanta. They love Georgia Tech, though.

Raps need size, shot blocking, offense/defense

Lamarcus Aldridge....he can add much needed post play as well.

Front line: Bosh, Villanueva, Aldridge.

no pick is for sure in this draft though.

Any chance in using that pick to get Jamal Magloire in some sort of a trade? Let's say Mike James and the top pick? For JM and a lower pick in the draft say a Dee Brown?

The first pick overall for Magloire?! No way, not straight up and not with Mike James and Dee Brown involved. You only give up a lottery-protected pick for Jamal, unless of course you are Isiah Thomas.
As for Greg Oden, no team is going to give up their first rounder next year with this kid coming out, again unless you are Isiah Thomas. The Raps would have to offer much more than this year's first for next years, and they have no idea who will even have the first pick, so forget that option.
I say try to trade down if you can, but considering there is no clear-cut #1, not many teams would give up much to move up to the top spot unless someone's stock skyrockets between now and then.
