Jalen Rose had stated earlier that he did not want to play in Toronto. Looks like he has no choice. I hope he settles in and eventually becomes the second scoring option after Vince.

I'm not too worried about JYD leaving however I do miss him. Marshall can do the rebounding for us. Mengke get ready!

Overall, i'm excited we landed Rose. Just not sure how excited he is.

That's a good question. In fact, who the hell is going to play C? Bosh? Bateer?

I still say this is a great trade for both teams! What we lose in rebounding, we gain in much needed points and assists. Rose is the most talented player Vince has played with since T-Mac. The VC highlights are going to be amazing! Book it!!!

JYD will be missed greatly :(

losing JYD was not smart, he's a spark-plug and a good overally player. Mo-Pete now has no role on the team and their thinner in the front court. they got good players but still aren't a better team.

Rose can play point as well.
I don't know why everyone says that he can play point. Just because he played PG in college doesn't translate to a PG in the NBA. There was a reason why he was originally traded from Denver to Indiana for Mark Jackson. There was a reason why he was the 12th man on Larry Brown's Indy teams behind Haywood workman and Travis Best.

How this deal turns out depends on Jalen Rose finally accepting the fact that it is not about him, but its about the team.

The raptors got the most talented player in this deal in the form of Jalen Rose, but unfortunately Jalen is a malcontent. For the past 10 yrs, he's been a 'me' first kind of player driving coaches crazy. But in order to win in the NBA, you need talent and Jalen is talented but can he be a 'team' first type of player. If he can, then it's a great trade, if not, then he'll be another headache for 4 more years.

I trade Marshall for JYD in a heartbeat, Marshall can score and rebound in double figures....JYD was only averaging 8.5 rebounds per game anyways....plus the raptors were being outrebound by their oponents even with davis and JYD. At least they can score now after the trade.

As for Baxter for Jefferies, it was a no brainer....Lonny is a 'big' that has more potential then Jefferies. Baxter dropped 19 on Tim be Duncan, when the bulls played San Antonio....can you ever say that about Jefferies?

I think the Raps needed to make a trade b/c the team really was painful to watch as is.

Also, everyone has be saying Vince has been playing well....I would disagree, he's been so inconsistent this season. One night he will drop 43...the next he might get 18. His numbers are not great this year 22pts, 41% shooting, 4.6 boards and 4.1 dimes. This is below his career average, and way below the height (first lenny wilkens yr) when he average 28.5 pts while shooting 46 %. That yr he was consistently dropping 25 to 33 pts per game.

Chris Bosh looks promising, but with the trade, will he have to play centre....this might stunt his development

Also, most people think Kevin O'Neil is doing great job which I think is a misconception. Are the Raptors doing a better defensive job....I don't think the raptors have improved that much defensively....it's done with smoke and mirrors....all Kevin O'Neil did was slow down the game by making his players milk the shot clock more b/f they shoot so the opponents score is lower b/c there's less time in the game. The Raps are still allowing teams to shoot at a 43% efficency which is middle of the Pact defensively, while the Raps are shooting only 39% as a team.

...and half the time, the raptors don't even compete especially on back to back games....that's the coaches job to light a fire under the player's arse. That was the criticism with Lenny Wilkens and it hasn't change under O'Neil....cuz they are god awful somethings to watch.

don't get caught watching the paint dry

It's been too easy to play Toronto cz they only had "one option"...and that was to go to Vince. If you played him tight with Sprewell or McGrady or Kobe (ie solid defense)or double team then it meant someone else would have to step up.

Carter also seems to be starting all his plays from the top of the circle....its the only place he can get the ball for sure.....
....bring in Jalen Rose, a "me first" kinda player may be a good thing.....Toronto has lacked a player with "drive to the basket and causing havoc" ever since Stoudamire. Vince will probably be scoring off rebounds, lob passes, and open looks with Jalen Rose in there as a legitimate attacking threat....

....maybe Vince and Jalen can convince McGrady to come back?...the season's over in Orlando already isn't it?
It was sad to see A.D getting every layup attempt blocked....also sad to see JYD leave but you have to pay a price.....Marshal for A.D probably good.......i don't have a clue about Lonnie Baxter - but that game against Portland sound promising.
Chris Bosh is the only tall guy left(who will play much).....Moiso better step up.

.

Not even Jordan would be consistent if he was the only one on the floor that needed attention......no one else is doing anything on offense...........but what you need to zero in on are Vince's stats at crunch time.......he wins games period.....T-Mac doesn't ...Abdur Rahim doesn't...............Scottie Pippen sure as heck doesn't.

Not sure why we ever let Voshon leonard go............and how did Dell Curry just disappear on us - the last season he was here, I thought he even played good defense.

Vince was consistent on a regular basis in previous yrs(pre injury) and it wasn't like they had a second scoring option in previous yrs either.

T-Mac was consistent last yr and he was the only option.

Tim be Duncan is consistent night in and night out whether he is double or triple teamed....and he's the only superstar on that team....i don't think there's another big name player on the spurs

Voshon Leonard can't play defense and shot the ball too much, that's why the raps didn't offer him a contract.

Dell Curry is way too old, dude - he could never get his own shot, he would need someone to penetrate and kick it out. No team wants to pay a 40 yr shooter who can't shoot anymore b/c he doesn't have the lift in his legs.

Bosh had a terrible game last night 4 for 17 and 4 turnovers. I think it was b/c he was tired (41 minutes in Orlando) and 46 mins last night.

Vince might as well not have played last night, 8 pts

Lamond Murry has been a big disappointment thus far - too bad, no team will even consider taking him in a trade especially with his contract.

Vince fell into the stands last night. I think that caused his off game more than anything else.

As for JYD, one of the Williams was going. They both make $5 Mil and that is what they should be paid combined. To Match Rose's contract ( he is the highest paid Raptor now) and get Marshall they had to give one up. The Bulls were skeptical of Alvin's injuries. Remeber when Boston ended up regretting that.

Mo Pete is the next to go. I can only imagine the look on Grunwald's face when he goes into his office asking for the Max. I hope they get someone better than Othella Harrington. Lamond Murray could be gone soon too.

wrong hole????

give me a break........

this year AD, Alvin, Mo Pete, Murray, and Curry have had nothing!!

they've been really lucky that Bosh has game.

T-Mac and Duncan may not have been surrounded by superstars but guys left open on those teams would hit there jump shots and score points........

c'mon San Antonio????....Ginobili, Tony Parker, Malik Rose, give me a break.....Tim Duncan was hardly alone last year.

As for T-Mac.......sorry I can't remember who was there last year..but Garrity hits his shots......Armstrong was there.......nowhere near as bad as T.O is this year on offense....

....and T-Mac loads up on statistics but he doesn't take over and win the game in the dying minutes...in fact he used to disappear in past years at crunch time.

I don't know if anyone here ever played bball......but i used to play those kind of minutes 2 games in one day in tournament play......Last night was very much a factor of throwing a bunch of guys on one line that don't usually play together....Moiso and Bateer etc, etc........there was just no chemistry.....and less talent on the floor than the little that is normally there.

let's hope and pray there's chemistry with Rose showing up......Marshall I think will fit in easy.

so are you saying...if you put Vince with San Antonio's roster instead of Tim be Duncan, that it would be a championship calibur team?

It's only this yr toronto's offense has been bad, that's O'Neil's fault....last season the offense was middle of the pact even with the injuries.

Vince has been alright but he's not having a good yr when compared to his 2nd and 3rd yr in the league. Sometimes he just disappears in games and seems satisfied with it. I think he would be better off as a second option.....he even said that himself in an interview about T-Mac....stating that T-Mac left b/c he wanted to carry a team....then Vince sez he could have done it here....meaning Vince would have been satisfied with being second fiddle to T-Mac.

Hey wrong hole, come on man, don't be hatin'!

VC is still 6th in scoring, yet has virtually no PG, and is double/triple teamed every night. I mean, his second scoring option is a 19 year old rook!!

In his 2nd/3rd season, there was no zone defence and scoring overall has dropped dramatically since.. He was what, 4th or 5th scoring that year too?

If anything, compare him with T-Mac or Pierce, who are also have no scoring help.. T-Mac and Pierce's numbers had dropped more than VC and look at their records (1-15, 7-9).

Despite his injuries, it's quite miraculous that VC is still a top 15 player and the Raps are playing .500.

I ain't VC hatin.....I just don't have the little school girl crush on him anymore

But I won't judge you guys for it

All I am saying is - VC needs to be more consistent in order to be a top 15 player (I'm not just talking about scoring), he can't disapear in some games and show flashes in other games

But it will be interesting to see how he meshes with Jalen 'show me the love' Rose

Show us the love Jalen

bottom line......I was rootin for this trade to take place all week....

I hope Jalen Rose isn't missing any of his game....his numbers look down but his minutes are down....we have no option but to give him the ball and all the minutes he can handle.

I've got a share of seasons tickets that i sold at the begininng of last year, but so far I'm still holding on. I chose games in the second half of this season so i still got some time.
