Greetings. I have about 10 Netvistas between 2-5 years old and I want to do some RAM upgrades. They all seem to have 128 or 256M (ouch). Most are running Win XP Pro and they are REALLY slow. I am not doing any processor upgrades.
The IBM site indicates my current RAM is often DDR PC 2700 or PC2100. One of my models is 8194 D7U. Do I need to worry about compatibility if I put in any DDR RAM?
I am not really looking to save $10/stick but the newer memory is much easier to get.
My plan is this. Take some machines that have 256M sticks, pull existing RAM from other similar machines and put its 256M stick into the originals, making 2 @ 256M = 512M. Then put 512M or 1024M sticks into the machines that just donated their RAM.
So, I might buy 5 @ 512M or 1024M sticks and deploy them as above.
Am I on the right path? Here are all the DDR ram from Tiger Direct as an example
